Mariah Carey Blasts Jennifer Lopez Again, Explains ‘I Don’t Know Her’ Slam [Video]

It sounds like the longstanding feud between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez is still lit and burning.

Years after Carey initially slammed Jennifer by uttering the infamous line “I don’t know her” when quizzed about her opinion of Lopez, Mariah is once again revealing that she and Jennifer are not exactly best friends.

Speaking out about Jennifer during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! on May 17, host Andy Cohen asked Carey about their past drama, to which Mariah admitted that she still doesn’t know Jennifer and revealed exactly what initially caused her to throw some pretty serious shade the star’s way.

“That was so long ago! I can’t believe people still make such a big deal out of it,” Carey told Cohen of her infamous “I don’t know her” diss, adding that she doesn’t know Jennifer despite Lopez recently claiming that the two have actually met “many times.”

“You know, I’m very forgetful. Apparently, I’m very forgetful,” Mariah continued, referring to Jennifer’s most recent comments about the pop star, in which she blasted Carey as being “forgetful” for not remembering their numerous meetings.

“If I had never had a conversation with you and someone asked me about you I’d be like, ‘I don’t know him but he seems cool’ or ‘I don’t know him,'” Mariah added, before Cohen slyly asked of Lopez, “Does she seem cool?”

A slightly flustered Mariah then once again replied, “I don’t know her! Like, what am I supposed to say? I’m not going to put on a thing like ‘Oh we’re all Hollywood and let’s all pretend we’re best friends’ because we’re in that land.'”

But while it appeared that Mariah Carey was once again throwing some serious shade Jennifer Lopez’s way, Carey was quick to clarify that her original comments meant “no offense to anybody” before clearing up exactly why she uttered the line that’s had fans talking for years.

“The question was about Beyoncé, and I said she was super talented, she’s a friend of mine, she’s always been sweet to me,” Mariah said, referring to the first time she said “I don’t know her” about Lopez. “Then they asked me another question and I don’t know how I said it but I said, ‘I don’t know her.'”

“It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is,” Mariah continued of Lopez, “Of course I do.”

Mariah’s latest comments about Jennifer follow years of back and forth between the two stars, including Jennifer’s most recent appearance on The Wendy Williams Show, in which she addressed Carey’s “I don’t know her” remarks while blasting Mariah as “forgetful.”

According to E! News, after Williams brought up Carey’s slam, Jennifer responded, “She does say that. She’s forgetful I guess!” before admitting that the two have actually “met many times” during their lengthy careers. “I don’t know… I don’t know her that well,” Lopez hit back.

Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez’s supposed feud heated up once again this year after fans accused Lopez of seriously dissing Mariah by not attending one of her Las Vegas residency shows, despite Jennifer admitting that she saw the Sin City concerts of Britney Spears, Shania Twain, and Celine Dion in preparation for her own string of shows.

However, Jennifer had a pretty solid explanation for her Mariah omission, revealing during her own appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live! this year that it was simply a scheduling issue and not her way of confirming reports that she and Carey have bad blood.

“I think last year when it started I was already here in New York filming Shades of Blue and doing [American Idol] on the weekends, I didn’t have a lot of time,” Lopez said of why she didn’t see Carey’s show.
