The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale airs Friday on The CW. The episode, titled “Gods & Monsters,” has many TVD fans wondering what is going to happen. Can Bonnie be saved? Will any favorite characters die in the last episode of the season? A new spoiler report reveals that Damon Salvatore will try to save Bonnie Bennett in an “explosive” way.
According to the press release, the season finale will focus on Damon, Enzo and Caroline going to extreme measures to save Bonnie. Everything else they have tried so far has not worked. What else can the TVD characters do? There might be one more option and it will have Damon Salvatore making “the ultimate sacrifice.”
“Despite their best efforts to help Bonnie (Kat Graham) through the harrowing predicament she now faces, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Caroline (Candice King) realize their options are running out and drastic measures need to be taken,” CBS Local wrote regarding the “Gods & Monsters” synopsis. “With their only chance of saving their friend lying inside the Armory, Stefan (Paul Wesley) breaks the news to Caroline that they may need help from an unlikely source – her and Alaric’s twin daughters.”
The Vampire Diaries Season 7 finale press release also states that Enzo and Bonnie return to the cabin. However, he isn’t able to distract the new vampire huntress and things take an unexpected turn. In order to save his friends, Damon will need to make “the ultimate sacrifice.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, one theory of Damon’s sacrifice was letting go of Elena. Ever since Nina Dobrev left The Vampire Diaries, Elena’s storyline has not been closed. However, Damon has continued to talk about losing his girlfriend, grieved over her and has not moved on at all. Perhaps “the ultimate sacrifice” in Gods & Monsters will finally close the “Delena” storyline.
The theory seems possible in a new sneak peek of The Vampire Diaries. In the video clip, Damon tells Stefan he is at the Armory. The Salvatore brother plans on getting inside, even though Bonnie’s spell made the Armory impenetrable. As usual, Damon has an idea, including getting past this obstacle. The idea is that Bonnie can be saved if the preserved body of the final Everlasting is destroyed.
Damon believes Bonnie can be saved if he gets rid of the body. Stefan and Caroline say if the final Everlasting is destroyed, then Bonnie dies, which means they also succumb to death.
It turns out that Damon and Enzo have new information, but it might not be from the most reliable source. Bonnie may die if the final Everlasting is destroyed, as they were initially told. However, Enzo found out from a descendent of Rayna’s creators that might not be completely accurate. Caroline isn’t so sure of this plan, but Damon and Enzo are desperate to save Bonnie. As they speak on the phone, Damon is already setting up canisters and getting out his lighter to create an explosion.
Spoilers Guide shared a teaser clip for the Season 7 finale of TVD. It didn’t reveal many details, but did show Stefan and Caroline pulling some crazy moves to get around traffic. That doesn’t seem something that would be done just because of rush hour. It is more likely that Bonnie is getting close or there is an emergency.
The extended promo for “Gods & Monsters” is particularly interesting. It reveals that Damon gets into the vault. At some point, Caroline and Stefan join him. Bonnie is also seen aiming her weapon at someone. Toward the end of the video clip, Damon shines a flashlight and says Elena’s name, as if he can’t believe it is her. This has led to speculation that Nina Dobrev might appear on the Season 7 finale of The Vampire Diaries. However, that doesn’t seem likely, but there is another explanation.
In a recent episode, Bonnie was told that the monster inside the vault isn’t a person or thing. It does something to the minds of those who encounter it. The entity steals compassion, empathy, and every positive trait one has. It feeds off the victims and sucks their souls dry. It takes everything a person is until there is nothing left.
Fans also know that it can disguise its voice to sound like a loved one. It did this to one character, who believed her sister was calling for help through the walls. Perhaps Damon will hear what sounds like Elena’s voice. Of course, maybe fans are right about Elena appearing, but it could be Rayna Cruz, who looks like Elena. There is also the possibility that it is a body double or a scene that was shot before Dobrev left TVD.
What do you think is going to happen in “Gods & Monsters?” Will Damon Salvatore’s plan in The Vampire Diaries succeed or fail? Why does Ian Somerhalder’s character say Elena’s name in the Season 7 finale promo?
