Rachael Ray Dishes On ‘Becky With The Good Hair’ Drama

Leave it to Rachael Ray to find humor in being tossed into the middle of scandalous infidelity rumors. The bubbly TV cook fell victim to a case of mistaken identity following the release of Beyoncé’s new visual album, Lemonade. The mix-up led to a vicious Beyhive attack on Rachael Ray’s social media accounts.

As Us Weekly reports, “Sorry,” a track on Beyoncé’s album, talks about a mystery woman who may have tried to take Beyoncé’s man, Jay Z. The accused mistress is referred to as “Becky with the good hair.”

Shortly after the album release, fashion designer Rachel Roy seemed to call herself out as “Becky” in a now-deleted Instagram post captioned with, “Good hair don’t care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self-truths, always. Live in the light #nodramaqueens.”

As the news spread quickly throughout the Beyhive, its members set out on a mission to defend their Queen Bey. However, in their haste to hunt down “Becky,” some mistook Rachael Ray’s last name for Rachel Roy’s. They descended upon Rachael Ray’s food-filled Twitter and Instagram accounts, littering them with hateful insults along with countless bee and lemon emojis.

Not even a cute picture of Rachael Ray’s beloved pit bull, Isaboo, was safe.

“Is that the look you give Jay-Z when he leaves to return to his innocent loving wife?” asked one commenter.

Some Beyhive members owned up to their mistake and even apologized to Rachael Ray. One loyal Beyoncé fan told Ray that “nobody was safe” until the real “Becky” was found.

“Sorry Ms. Ray but we had to turn every table and flip every chair…Nobody was safe when she said Becky with the good hair!!”

Until now, Rachael Ray’s only response was a recipe for Chef Damaris Phillips’ lemon shake-up with lemonade lavender ice cubes posted on Instagram the Sunday after the attacks began.

Rachel Ray finally opened up about the incident, telling Us Weekly she thought the whole thing was “hilarious.” The good-natured Food Network celebrity said she and Rachel Roy even exchanged gifts following the fiasco.

“Rachel [Roy] sent me flowers and I sent her a bottle, a big bottle of wine and a straw. [I was going to send Roy] Brunello di Montalcino, where I was married, but I said for our office to ask her office if she drinks red and if she didn’t drink red, to send Grande Dame. So I don’t know actually which one she got. I wrote the card and she got the straw and the booze.”

Rachael Ray confessed having her name thrown in with the likes of Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Rachel Roy was pure excitement for her. Ray said while the others may have found it all somewhat “uncomfortable,” she thought it was simply “awesome.”

“[It was] hilarious. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I’m even mentioned in the same sentence as these people? That’s insane. That’s awesome. I think honestly that it was really much more uncomfortable for the rest of the people in that group than for me. I was like, ‘I’m mixed in with all of those peeps?! What the h***?!”

All the “Becky with the good hair” drama gave Rachael Ray a little break from her normal day-to-day life. She is just a cook with “a little talk show,” after all.

“I mean, it’s so far removed from my life. I’m a cook. I have a little talk show. We chit-chat.”

Maybe Rachael Ray has reached an entirely new audience now, thanks to “Becky.”
