The Force Awakens: Lego And New Book Provides Insight

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, grossed over $2 billion worldwide at the box office, earned a score of 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and is currently the second most purchased Blu-ray of all time. Fans across the globe cherished the return of several iconic characters from the franchise: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Leia Organa, R2D2, and C3PO, among others. The film also introduced new characters, such as Finn, Poe Dameron, Rey, and Kylo Ren. In the movie, fans witnessed Han and Chewbacca reuniting with the Millennium Falcon, Luke Skywalker reuniting with his lightsaber, and they learned that Kylo Ren is the lovechild of Han and Leia, which so far hasn’t worked out so well, as they also witnessed the death of Han Solo from the hands of his son.

Although the movie was a huge success, both monetarily and largely by the perception of its fans, The Force Awakens left viewers asking many questions, such as what happened before Episode VII? Well, thanks to LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises (a series of short films), The Force Awakens LEGO video game, and Star Wars: Bloodline (a novel by Claudia Gray), the gaps begin to be filled in as many questions are answered.

As Inverse reported, through the LEGO animated series we find out more about Finn prior to The Force Awakens, along with other characters like Kylo Ren and BB-8. Viewers will also be delighted to see Han Solo and Chewbacca in an adventure together. In true LEGO fashion, The Resistance Rises offers plenty of action and humor for any Star Wars enthusiast.

LEGO The Force Awakens game will offer six original storylines that answer some questions, such as what happened to C3PO’s arm. The game is scheduled to be released on June 28 and promises to give players a lot of information, and action; IGN calls it the Episode VII game we deserve. Perhaps the most exciting news regarding the game is that many of the actors reprise their roles, such as Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, and Daisy Ridley.

Most viewers of The Force Awakens film felt they didn’t get enough of Leia. In the novel, Star Wars: Bloodline, author Claudia Gray solves this problem. The story takes place six years before Episode VII and is centered on Leia. The book also reveals information about Leia and Han’s son, Ben, who eventually becomes Kylo Ren, along with other major characters in the franchise. The director of Episode VIII, Rian Johnson, also gave a contribution to the book. And for those that enjoy the politics of Star Wars, readers will not be disappointed.

The official overview of the book from Barnes & Noble is as follows.

“From the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Lost Stars comes a thrilling novel set in the years before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

“When the Rebellion defeated the Empire in the skies above Endor, Leia Organa believed it was the beginning to a lasting peace. But after decades of vicious infighting and partisan gridlock in the New Republic Senate, that hope seems like a distant memory.”

“Now a respected senator, Leia must grapple with the dangers that threaten to cripple the fledgling democracy—from both within and without. Underworld kingpins, treacherous politicians, and Imperial loyalists are sowing chaos in the galaxy. Desperate to take action, senators are calling for the election of a First Senator. It is their hope that this influential post will bring strong leadership to a divided galaxy.”

“As the daughter of Darth Vader, Leia faces with distrust the prospect of any one person holding such a powerful position—even when supporters suggest Leia herself for the job. But a new enemy may make this path Leia’s only option. For at the edges of the galaxy, a mysterious threat is growing….”

For Star Wars fans who felt they needed more information after The Force Awakens, and simply can’t wait for Episodes VIII and IX, LEGO and Claudia Gray have the answers for you.
