Apple Tablet Features And September Release Date Confirmed

There have been plenty of Apple Tablet rumors over the last several months, but most haven’t been as credible as the Financial Times. According to the FT the Apple device is due this in September, just in time for the Christmas shopping season. They also talked about further record label and book publisher deals that could arrive in tandem with the device. Here’s what they had to say about the unit:

The talks come as Apple is separately racing to offer a portable, full-featured, tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season, in what the entertainment industry hopes will be a new revolution. The device could be launched alongside the new content deals, including those aimed at stimulating sales of CD-length music, according to people briefed on the project.

Apple is working with EMI, SonyMusic, Warner Music and Universal Music Group, on a project the company has codenamed “Cocktail”, according to four people familiar with the situation.

It’s also rumored that the device will in fact have a 10 inch device (a popular rumor of late), while also featuring WiFi connectivity and a reported book marketplace. Take that Kindle, Kindle 2 and every other future Amazon device.

Rumors last week pointed to a price tag around $599, making the tablet one of the most affordable on the market, although no confirmed pricing exists at this time. [Gizmodo Via FinancialTimes]
