Trevor Noah Mocks Bernie Sanders And Donald Trump

If you criticize Bernie Sanders, his fans are likely going to go after you. Trevor Noah certainly knew this on The Daily Show Thursday night as he and his correspondents mocked the deification of Sanders. Mediate has the news.

“Last night on The Daily Show, pretty much everyone on-and off-camera did everything they could to stop Trevor Noah from daring to criticize progressive messiah Bernie Sanders…Correspondent Desi Lydic interrupted his criticisms of Sanders’ policies by banging cymbals together, while Ronny Chieng decided to just completely throw Noah under the bus.”

Perhaps the most talked about part was when Lydic suggested Noah attempt something less controversial, like drawing a picture of Mohammed on a pig. The audience loved it, even if it made Bernie Sanders fans angry. The Mediate commenters, who usually criticize The Daily Show and Trevor Noah, have mostly good things to say about the segment.

“This was really funny. Also true, Bernie supporters are nuts,” says Zackwoodson.

“That was a funny piece…Sidenote: whether or not you care for Noah as host, the supporting cast on TDS always delivers,” adds Not_Applicable.

The next night, Trevor Noah had a lot to say about Ted Cruz’s Indiana disappointment, which means that Trump will likely become the Republican presidential candidate. Salon described Noah’s segment, which was well received by Trump bashers.

“I’m so conflicted. I mean, Ted Cruz lost because Donald Trump won. It’s like finding out your herpes is gone but it’s because your d**k fell off,” Noah exclaimed, with much laughter from the audience.

Noah also responded to Trump claiming that he is going to make America one beautiful, loving country.

“It sounds really beautiful. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned from history, if a crazy white man says we should come together, you should make sure to ask him to specify who the ‘we’ is.”

Noah has taken the fear of Donald Trump becoming president and turned it into comedy. However, others aren’t laughing. Even conservative Republicans, such as Pascal Emmanuel Gobry from The Week, are saying that true conservatives need to find a new candidate.

“Donald Trump is the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee for president of the United States. That is probably the weirdest sentence I’ve ever typed. This is a problem for my fellow conservatives. It’s not just that Trump is not a conservative. It’s that his candidacy is a deliberate insult to everything conservatives are supposed to believe.”

Gobry believes that not only is Trump psychologically unfit to be president, but he is trying to do away with everything conservatives have been trying to build for the past 30 years.

Trevor Noah is obviously trying to use the anti-Trump sentiments to increase his ratings, which have been dangerously low. According to ShowBuzzDaily, only 661,000 people watched his show this past Thursday night. However, Mr. Noah did attract 929,000 viewers on Wednesday night — a number much higher than the usual amount of viewers, which has been hovering between 650,000 to 800,000 per night — a number far lower than it was when Jon Stewart hosted.

The good news is that Noah is getting good reviews from the people who actually watch his show and he has been praised a lot of Twitter.
