Lisa Rinna Changes Her Hairstyle For The First Time in 20 Years, Debuts Drugstore-Dye ‘Do

Lisa Rinna has made a big change. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has debuted a new, slicked- back, darker ‘do, marking the first major change in her signature style in nearly 20 years. Entertainment Tonight posted a video of Lisa Rinna’s new hair look, which she unveiled during an episode of Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.

Lisa Rinna’s hairstyle has been a recent topic on RHOBH, so perhaps it’s no surprise that she told host Andy Cohen that she wanted to switch things up. Rinna revealed that her new hairdo was inspired by this year’s Met Gala theme.

“I mean, I wanted to try something new, and you know, I’ve had the same hairdo,” Rinna said. “For 20 years I’ve had the same hairdo and I thought, ‘Why not?’ you know? … Because my highlights were all crazy all over the place and I thought, I’ll just darken it a little bit. I had a vision. It was sort of, like, for the Met Ball, the ‘Manus Machina’ look for the Met Ball.”

Lisa Rinna admitted that she had dyed her hair herself using drugstore hair dye, and then she just styled her hair in a new way.

“[It’s] just styled differently. I darkened it a little bit. I went to the drugstore last night, and I got this fanciful — I don’t know what it is. It’ll wash out.”

While Lisa Rinna is known for her heavily-highlighted, short, feathered cut, in the past she has changed up her hair for acting roles.

But Lisa can also take a joke, so she even poked fun at her hair. Last year, Us Weekly posted a video of Rinna wearing comically long hair extensions during an appearance on Access Hollywood. Rinna’s faux hair makeover came after a catfight with fellow Real Housewives star Brandi Glanville, who slammed Lisa for her never-changing hairstyle after Rinna joked that Glanville helped her to inspire a trashy mom character she played on CSI.

“You’ve had the same hairdo for 20 years, and you’re basing it on my look?” Glanville asked Rinna.

After Lisa Rinna wore the exaggerated hair extensions, she told Access Hollywood host Billy Bush that she felt “like a Kardashian,” and she joked that maybe Brandi was right and that she should grow her hair out.

In addition to slamming Lisa’s look as dated, Glanville has also called Rinna out for wearing wigs. On an episode of RHOBH earlier this year, Brandi even told pal Yolanda Foster that she thinks all of the glue from Lisa’s many wigs has messed with her brain.

“I think that wig glue is going to her brain, and she needs to check herself,” Brandi said of Rinna. “It’s one wig in one style. I want to get one and be her for Halloween. No, I’m not lying. She wears wigs.”

Rinna responded to Brandi’s wig-shaming by posing for a photo that shows pal Caroline Stanbury (Ladies of London) tugging on her hair to prove it is real.

Lisa Rinna previously revealed that she keeps her hair short because her husband, Harry Hamlin, likes it that way. Lisa acknowledged that she has had the same basic look for two decades, but slightly different versions of it. But the actress/reality star also says that despite what anyone else thinks, she’s happy with her hair.

“I like my hairdo, though,” Lisa said. “I really do.”
