Jimmy Fallon loves to do fun things on his show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and on April 29, he brought out the best to do a cover video with him. Paul Rudd was his guest that night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and they did a cover of the Styx song, “Too Much Time on My Hands.”

Some might say that Jimmy Fallon and his guests have too much time on their hands, but fans are grateful that they do because they never fail to entertain.

Jimmy Fallon actually hinted at what was coming in the days before Paul Rudd appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. As Entertainment Weekly reminded everyone,

“Fallon has been singing bits of the tune all week, and he had a mini-jam session with guest Adam Levine on Thursday’s show. ‘It’s stuck in my head. I can’t get it out of my head,’ Fallon said at the time, adding, ‘Right now it’s the best song I’ve ever heard in my entire life.'”

So really, anyone that watches Jimmy Fallon on a regular basis should have known that something big was coming.

On Friday, Paul Rudd made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Before his interview, Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd appeared in a cover video of “Too Much Time on My Hands” by the 80s band, Styx.

It was incredible, and people are still sharing it all over the internet. It will surely become one of Jimmy Fallon’s more loved video clips.

Slate says about the cover video, “Like any great work of art, the closer you examine the Fallon-Rudd video, the more wonders it reveals.”

Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd got the video down almost perfect, recreating each shot with meticulous detail. If you have too much time on your hands, you might want to compare the video with the original.

This is the original video for “Too Much Time on My Hands.”

Some of the details worth noting:

  • The same keyboard brand is used
  • The scene with the woman in the yellow shirt at the beginning has the same (or very similar) antler lamp in the background.
  • The first scene at the pool table has the balls all in the same spots
  • The wristwatches are very similar, if not the same kind

Someone went to a lot of work to make sure that every detail was as close to the original video as possible.

After the video, Fallon and Rudd talked about the character of Antman being integrated into the movie Captain America: Civil War and what is meant by the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Avengers also appear in the movie.

As is the custom, Jimmy Fallon introduced the clip of Captain America: Civil War. However, instead of a trailer for the movie, the cover video of “Too Much Time on My Hands” began to play and the audience went wild. After a few seconds, they went to the real trailer for the movie.

This is not the first time that Jimmy Fallon has recreated a video that got the whole internet talking. Last year, Fallon recreated the video “More Than Words” by Extreme. Jack Black accompanied him and they did a great job of recreating this popular 90s song.

What will Jimmy Fallon come up with next? As long as fans keep watching, tweeting, and sharing, there’s no doubt that Fallon will keep coming up with better videos and extras that make his show the best late night show on television.
