Chicago Bears In Love With Ezekiel Elliott

Did Ezekiel Elliott spill the beans on the Chicago Bears? The highly sought after running back makes a bold claim about the Bears. Chicago Bears’ fans can only imagine the possibilities if they are able to land Ezekiel Elliott with the No. 11 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. According to Elliott, the Bears are in love with him.

During an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, Ezekiel Elliott was asked if there was a team that was in love with him. His answer was quite honest. Perhaps a little too honest. Ezekiel Elliott declared that the Chicago Bears are the team which he believes that is in love with him, according to NFL.

Before Bears’ fans get excited, Elliott is one of the the top players in this year’s draft class. Unless the Bears trade up in the draft, there is a good chance that he will be gone by the time they are on the clock. And judging from the price the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles paid to trade up for the No. 1 and No. 2 picks respectively, the Bears are staying put. If anything, they may actually trade down. That is, unless they can package a couple of future draft picks in order to move up three or four spots.

If the Chicago Bears deem Ezekiel Elliott, or any other player a franchise-altering talent, they could pull off a deal. With nine draft picks overall, the Bears have the assets to make something happen.

Ezekiel Elliott is widely considered a once in a lifetime player at the running back position. There are teams that are enamored with him. He even has Hall of Fame general manager Bill Polian gushing about him, as reported by the Canton Repository.

“When the pressure has been the highest, in the playoff games, he was terrific”

Polian took time to pay homage to Elliott’s speed.

“He has everything you’re looking for. Acceleration in the hole. Avoiding (tackles). Great power. Home run speed.”

Bill Polian went on to offer the highest praise that a player on the draft board can ever receive.

“The guy you want is the guy with unique talent. Can anyone deny that Ezekiel Elliott can change a game?”

No one will deny Elliott’s ability to be a game-changer. The Chicago Bears realize that he is a potential once in a lifetime player. So does a few other teams.

Just like the Bears, the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants all are linked to having interest in Ezekiel Elliott. That means that he can go as early as No. 4, to the Cowboys, or to either of the other teams which pick before the Bears. For now, eliminate the Cowboys who will probably not draft him, opting to go with defense instead.

The Browns are the next team that will take a long look at Elliott. Cleveland has somewhat of a home field advantage in terms of scouting. Ezekiel Elliott starred at Ohio State, which is less than a four-hour drive to Cleveland. There is no reason to believe that the Browns neglected to do their homework here. It is most likely that Elliott will be on the draft board when the Browns pick at eight.

If somehow Elliott gets past the Cleveland Browns, some believe that he will land with the New York Giants. The Giants pick just before the Bears do at No. 10.

One of the reasons why the Giants had struggles last season was the inability to run the football. While they have other, more pressing needs, the Giants may not allow Ezekiel Elliott to fall past them.

The Chicago Bears are hoping that every team which is interested in Ezekiel Elliott looks the other way. The devaluation of the running back position is why the discussion is being had.

If this was 10 or 15 years ago, Ezekiel Elliott would be guaranteed to get drafted in the top 5. The Bears would never have a shot at selecting him. Most teams love him. Just about every team would love to have him, or a player just like him. Very few running backs (six running backs) have been chosen in the top-10 in the last 10 drafts.

Therefore, it is a realistic chance that Elliott falls to No. 11 when the Chicago Bears take their turn on the clock. Then they may be forced to prove just how much they love him.

My guess is: Ezekiel Elliott goes to the Chicago Bears.
