Rebel Wilson lost eight pounds in four days during her stay at The Ranch Malibu. The 36-year-old hiked up hills and incinerated some serious calories!
Wilson spent her time at the ranch to unplug and focus on her health. The Ranch Malibu is an exclusive retreat for celebrities to unwind and devote time to their health and fitness regimes. They also receive massages and other spa services.
“OMG just finished 4 fantastic days at #TheRanch4.0…so challenging but very rewarding!” Wilson captioned her photo on Instagram. “Not to mention I lost 8 pounds from marathon hiking over the 4 days! Thanks to the amazing staff and masseuses (free daily massages are part of the program)!! Feeling great!!”

The Ranch Malibu CEO and co-founder, Alex Glasscock, tells People magazine that the ranch has a “no options” program ritual and that there is an intense workout program.
Other celebrities known to be guests at the ranch include Lea Michele, Minka Kelly, and Julianne Hough. The whole ranch is cell-phone free, and visitors spend their days in mandatory workouts and hikes, eating plant-based meals, receiving spa treatments.
“It’s so effective because we have a no options program,” Glasscock said. “We ask people to trust and let go, and put them through a really rigorous daily regime.”
He continued, “The sum total of eating healthy, low-calorie nutritious meals, coupled with rigorous exercise, massage and stretching, is you detox, your cholesterol levels are improved, you lose fat, gain muscle, and have this overall sense of empowerment, confidence and clarity when you leave.”
According to the ranch’s website, it’s an internationally acclaimed retreat that has two locations — one in Malibu and the other in Westlake. The Westlake location offers the more condensed program, “4-Day Jumpstart,” and the Malibu location offers a minimum one-week stay for guests.
In part, the mission statement reads, “In one intensive week at our luxury bootcamp, you will gain physical endurance, shed unwanted pounds, tone up and detoxify in a healthy and sustainable way all while ‘getting off the grid’ and back to nature.”
Visitors go on four-to-five-hour group hikes in addition to core and ab work. Exercise includes weights, daily group yoga sessions, private afternoon massages Monday through Friday, and daily naps.
All fitness and body improvements aside, Rebel has identified herself as being separate from the “glamour” people and says she wouldn’t want to compete with them.
“Being unique and different was a really good thing,” Rebel said. “When I walked into my agent’s office for the first time [in 2009], they looked at me and said, ‘Wow, we have nobody on our books like you.’ And they signed me on my second day here.
She added, “I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call ‘the glamours’ – the really gorgeous people. I’m about the brain, the heart and what’s on the inside. I feel really lucky to be the body type I am.”
Wilson says eating is her “one vice.”
Living in L.A. has also influenced Rebel Wilson’s lifestyle, but she’s not going overboard with it.
“Living in L.A. you learn a lot about health,” Wilson said. “I now drink green juices and I’m trying to do gluten-free. But I don’t do it 100 percent – I’m not a maniac!”
