Lauren Conrad Debuts Latest Disney-Inspired Fashion Line With ‘Alice In Wonderland’ Collection

Lauren Conrad is mad about Disney. The former Hills star turned fashion designer has unveiled her latest Disney-themed clothing line, which takes inspiration from the movie Alice in Wonderland. Lauren Conrad’s new collection is available exclusively at Kohl’s, with nearly two dozen pieces priced between $36 and $68.

In an interview with E! News, Conrad revealed that she has had her eye on Alice ever since she was first told she would be working with Disney for her LC Lauren Conrad Collection for the department store chain.

“I was really, really excited about this. From day one when they said we get to work with Disney, I was like, ‘Tell me we get to do Alice in Wonderland!’ ” Conrad told E! News. “They sent us all this original artwork. I’m a little bit of a Disney nerd, so it’s really cool for me because I get to see where these characters come from.”

Lauren acknowledged that the actual Alice In Wonderland story is a little dark, so she plucked softer elements from key scenes (like wildflowers and hearts) to offset the more offbeat White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and other characters from the classic 1951 animated movie.

“The books and the movies are actually a little dark, so we wanted it to be a softer version,” Conrad said.

Lauren Conrad told Us Weekly that her whimsical new line takes signature looks from the movie and gives them a modern day update.

“There are hearts inspired by the Queen and variations on [Alice’s] iconic blue dress — each piece in the collection takes a little something different from the movie,” Lauren said.

In addition to the queen’s hearts, Conrad’s collection includes a dress that comes in a teacup print, as well as designs with wildflowers and rabbits.

Since Lauren Conrad is a self-described “Disney nerd,” it’s no surprise that this is her fifth Disney line for Kohl’s. Conrad’s past House of Mouse-themed collections includes lines inspired by Bambi, Cinderella, and Minnie Mouse. But this latest line may just have a special place in Conrad’s heart. Lauren told E! News that she’s an Alice in Wonderland fanatic and that she also collects teacups.

Lauren Conrad is quickly becoming the queen of fairytale clothing lines. Last year, when she debuted her Cinderella collection (complete with tulle lined skirts and a sweater that had a glass slipper on it), Lauren told In Style that it was nice to have an idea to work with from the get-go.

“It was kind of nice because we weren’t dreaming up something,” Conrad said. “We had a starting point. I really wanted this to feel like a marriage between the movie and our line, so it was great to have that jumping-off point. We pulled screen grabs, we figured out what our favorite scenes were, what the iconic moments from the movie were, because we wanted to reflect that in the collection. It was just a lot of fun, to be honest.”

With Cinderella, Bambi, and now Alice in Wonderland under her belt, Lauren Conrad has taken on some of Disney’s most classic movies. It will be interesting to see what she dreams up next and if she’ll stick to the classics or go for a more recent flick. Lauren Conrad’s Cars collection has a nice ring to it.

Lauren Conrad’s new collection for Kohl’s is in stores now, one month before Walt Disney Pictures’ Alice Through the Looking Glass hits theaters on May 27.
