Christina Aguilera: Britney Spears Will Give ‘Great Advice’ As ‘X-Factor’ Judge

Christina Aguilera had nothing but good words for Britney Spears, her 90s pop rival, who is also now her talent show rival. Aguilera attended a press conference for “The Voice” where she was asked her thoughts on Spears joining “The X-Factor.”

Hit Fix notes that Aguilera spoke of her former Mousketeer Spears, saying:

I came up with Britney. [We were in the] Mickey Mouse Club. We were very close, and our paths have always crossed and, interestingly, they will continue to cross. I welcome her to this family of fun and entertainment and finding new talent as well….I don’t know what [advice] she’s going to offer specifically, but I know she’s a pro…I think she’s going to give great advice.”

The two pop stars’ paths continue to cross, as their careers appear to parallel each other. Aguilera also spoke of Mariah Carey’s appointment as a new “American Idol” judge, saying:

“I welcome these very talented women. In this business, especially in my genre of pop.. women [get] compared to each other and it’s women against women and this and that and I’m not down for that at this point in my life. I have no patience for it. C’mon, the more the merrier.”

Us Weekly notes that Britney Spears signed her contract with FOX to appear on “The X-Factor’s” panel of judges. She will be joined by Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell, who seemed very excited about his new co-judges, commenting that Spears is even tougher on contestants than him.
