Oprah Winfrey has opened up about her weight loss struggles, according to People. The 62-year-old talk show host and philanthropist shared previously unknown facts about her efforts to lose weight.
Speaking at the Super Soul Sessions Saturday in Los Angeles, Oprah Winfrey admitted she wanted to be “thin,” adding that she had wasted lots of energy and time to make her thighs thin and to make her arms “not to flap.”
“I had the success and the money but I was still wanting something different than I had.”

Oprah Winfrey also revealed that she had used foods to fight against stress while hosting her Oprah Winfrey Show for 20 years. In particular, the media mogul used to eat cheat foods on vacations and indulge on go-to foods like Cool Ranch Doritos.
Oprah Winfrey also said that she was always creative at finding excuses to skip workouts, sharing a story of her vacation at her ranch in Maui. The inspirational woman took a hike and sprained her ankle, and that was her “license” not to exercise, Winfrey revealed.
“Jesus did not want me to workout, so I put my leg up and ate and drank all the vacation.”
Oprah Winfrey also recalled how she was standing in front of the mirror, assessing her naked body. And that was the moment when she realized that after six decades, she is still learning to love her own body.
But it was Weight Watchers that truly helped Oprah Winfrey transform. The influential woman said that it felt like “an intervention from on high.” Winfrey still sticks to the Weight Watchers plan, and she revealed to the crowd on Saturday that she still had 18 points left for the day.

Washington captioned the photo featuring the surprise appearance of Oprah Winfrey as “best photobomb of my life.” The photobomb took place during Winfrey’s Super Soul Session conference on Saturday.
Oprah Winfrey was recently woken up by CBS anchor Gayle King during a live show, according to the New York Daily News. And Winfrey didn’t seem annoyed by the call, but fans wonder how she would have taken it if it were anyone other than her best friend on the other end of the line!
What prompted King to call Oprah Winfrey in the middle of the night (well, it was nearly 7 a.m. in Hollywood) was a live Facebook chat between the CBS anchor and 16-year-old entrepreneur Maya Penn. In particular, it was Penn saying that she thinks of Winfrey as of her “fairy godmother” that made Penn dial Winfrey’s number during the live show.
And Oprah Winfrey’s reaction to the call was, “Oh my God, Gayle, I’m sleeping.” The media mogul was clearly not expecting the call, as she sounded sleepy and tired. But as soon as King told her that they were broadcasting the call, Winfrey spoke with enthusiasm.
Oprah Winfrey said that it was King’s “idea of fun,” adding that Penn had a bright future in front of her. Winfrey met the 16-year-old entrepreneur earlier that week.
“Your future is big and bright and it’s amazing.”
Penn, who is clearly a big fan of Oprah Winfrey, has her inspirational handbook for teenagers, You Got This!, published this week. Among her many accomplishments, Penn has already launched a non-profit organization that motivates teens around the world and even founded her own eco-friendly clothing line.
