Tyra Banks Cries During Nyle DiMarco’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Performance

Everyone was tearing up, including Tyra Banks, during the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars regarding the performance of Nyle DiMarco.

The supermodel and new mom dropped by for a Switch Up Week rehearsal while Nyle DiMarco practiced his moves with dance pro, Sharna Burgess. DiMarco won Cycle 22 of Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model last year. The male model is deaf, but his ability to overcome his disability during the competition made him very memorable.

As per the sneak peek of Dancing with the Stars, Tyra shared that she came to visit the Top Model winner to remind him of how amazing he is. The 42-year-old media maven added that Nyle started the competition strong but became a little soft as the show progressed.

“And he needs to come back and pow,” she continued.

Tyra Banks tearfully told Nyle DiMarco, “Made me cry… that’s my baby!”

She was referring to the samba performance with his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd last week. The two scored a 34 out of 40.

The former supermodel/talk show host also cheered for the Cycle 22 winner from the audience as the April 18 episode was being filmed.

As for the latest episode that left everyone in tears over the male top model’s performance, he earned a 10 from the notoriously tough judge Len Goodman. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba was also in tears before she gave her feedback about the performance. Nyle DiMarco shared that he too was also tearing up the whole time he was dancing.

Len Goodman said, “That was like a total eclipse. It doesn’t turn up often, but when it does, it’s fantastic.”

The 26-year-old former America’s Next Top Model winner said that he spent a lot of time thinking about how he could add emotion to the dance routine, and as a result, he grew more connected to his partner. He said that there was so much connection, and it is possibly the reason why he cried. The two were then awarded a top score of 37 out of 40.

Switch Up Week proved quite the challenge for Sharna Burgess. Nyle’s normal partner, Peta Murgatroyd, had her own way of teaching him by learning the lyrics and making lots of adjustments. As for Sharna Burgess, she had to come up with something that would work for both of them. Thankfully, Tyra Banks’ visit seemed to work wonders for the duo’s performance.

There was no elimination on Monday evening, and there were a lot of standout moments in the April 18 episode of Dancing with the Stars. Von Miller chose to go country, and the football MVP’s creative performance impressed the judges. He and his partner, Lindsay Arnold, got 29 out of 40.

Jodie Sweetin’s performance earned a 35 out of 40 with her Switch Up Week partner Val Chmerkovskiy. It was a great week for Val Chmerkovskiy, as he was able to work with his childhood crush. He said in the past that he liked her even before he knew how to speak English.

Len Goodman, however, was very critical of Kim Fields’ Viennese Waltz with dance partner Keo Motsepe, which resulted with a collective boo from the audience.

One contestant will be sent home next week. Right now, Antonio Brown is at the bottom of the leaderboard, but the audiences’ votes could change that. Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

Besides her appearance on the dance show, Tyra Banks is busy with her business and being a mother to her first child. On January 27, the former supermodel announced that she welcomed York Banks Asla, born via a surrogate, with boyfriend Erik Asla.
