‘Dancing With The Stars’: Nyle DiMarco Blew Away Even Len And Maks

Nyle DiMarco continues to stun with his performances on Dancing with the Stars. Last night was “Switch Up” night, and fans were nervous, as Nyle would have to train and dance with a new partner. Dancing with the Stars viewers voted on all the pairings for last night’s show, and they chose Sharna Burgess for DiMarco. It turned out to be the perfect choice. The two took to the dance floor, and there was barely a dry eye in the house or in homes across America by the time they were done. Even Len Goodman and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were in awe.

The music chosen for Nyle and Sharna’s performance on Dancing with the Stars “Switch Up” night was “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle. Their Viennese Waltz was perfection. Carrie Ann Inaba had to take a moment to collect herself before commenting on DiMarco’s performance, and fans completely understood and empathized. When she did speak, she had this to say.

“Wow… You take my breath away, and I’m not alone, I can tell. At first I thought maybe, at the beginning of the competition, that you were at a disadvantage. But when I watch you perform, I realize you’re at an advantage because you’ve been telling stories with your body and communicating with your body your whole life. You were born to dance.”

In the video played on Dancing with the Stars before Nyle and Sharna’s performance, they talked about issues they expected to have to work through in their training. DiMarco and his usual Dancing with the Stars partner, Peta Murgatroyd, have connected in a special way. They had to in order for him to perform well. Since Nyle can’t hear the music or even feel vibrations from the music, in their Dancing with the Stars training, he and Peta have learned to communicate in their own way. How difficult would it be to do the same thing with a brand new partner? The connection is critical for DiMarco on Dancing with the Stars. It’s the key to his success. By all appearances, he and Sharna connected beautifully, and it showed in their performance. Even Nyle was brought to tears.

Besides last night being “Switch Up” night on Dancing with the Stars, a guest judge was on the panel. Guest judges are nothing new to Dancing with the Stars, but this one was especially interesting. Maksim Chmerkovskiy was the guest judge. He is engaged to Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd, DiMarco’s usual dance partner. Everyone wondered if he would take it easy on Peta and what he would have to say about Nyle’s performance. Well, he provided constructive criticism for Peta and Doug Flutie’s performance and, like everyone else, had nothing but great things to say about DiMarco. Shots of Nyle and Peta during Maks’ comments showed them both fighting back tears. Here’s what he said.

“It’s so hard. It’s hard for me to comprehend. I know you. I know you well. It’s hard for me to understand how this is possible. It’s the best dance of the night… So much musicality, so much musicality, which is mind-boggling… amazing job.”

Even the harshest Dancing with the Stars judge, Len Goodman, sang DiMarco’s praises, proclaiming, “I’ll tell you what that was. That was like a total eclipse. It doesn’t turn up often, but when it does, it’s fantastic.”

The always-energetic Bruno Tonioli told him, “The magic of dance is alive in you. You have to be made of granite not to fall head-over-heels in love with that performance. Mr. Dreamy.”
