Sean Hayes Joins ‘Smash’ Season 2 For Multi-Episode Arc

Sean Hayes is joining the cast of NBC’s “Smash” for the show’s second season, appearing with his “Will & Grace” co-star Debra Messing in a multi-episode arc.

Hayes will appear as character Terrence Falls, who is a comedic TV and film star, reports The Huffington Post. Falls is attempting to make his Broadway debut in the musical “Liasions,” which is based on the novel “Les Liasions Dangereuses.”

Along with Hayes, other new “Smash” additions include Jennifer Hudson, Jeremy Jordan, and Andy Mientus. The actor’s character is slated to bring comic relief to the show, along with some trouble, becoming a “major thorn” in the side of Ivy, played by Megan Hilty.

The arc is the second for Sean Hayes in a NBC show, as he is also spending time in the sophomore sitcom “Up All Night,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The constantly expanding Season 2 “Smash” cast also includes Krysta Rodriguez and comes after Josh Safran (“Gossip Girl”) has been appointed as the new showrunner.

The drama will reportedly undergo a creative reboot under Safran’s direction and will see the exits of Season 1 co-stars Brian d’Arcy James, Jaime Cepero, Raza Jaffrey, and Will Chase (Messing’s former on-screen love interest). Hayes co-starred with Debra Messing for eight season on NBC’s “Will & Grace,” with Hayes earning an Emmy, four SAG awards and seven Golden Globe nominations for his role.

Hayes took to Twitter about his new role, writing:
