The Unbelievably Bizarre Reason Why Kim Kardashian Stopped Smiling Too Much In Public

Kim Kardashian is arguably the most popular reality show star in the world. Currently aged 35 and married to rapper Kanye West, with whom she has two kids, she sure has a lot to live for. She rose to fame in 2007 following a leaked sex tape and has worked hard to maintain her influence in the entertainment world. It seems like only yesterday when Kim Kardashian worked as Paris Hilton’s personal assistant, organizing her schedules, cleaning after her, and also doubling as her “silent” friend. This was in the early 2000s.

Delving a bit into this period of her life, Kim had by 2007 began surpassing Paris in popularity and became a media sensation thanks to her sex tape with Ray J. However, it was recently revealed that the leaked tape was actually part of a strategy devised by Kris Jenner, her mother, to boost her daughter’s popularity.

According to the book Kardashian Dynasty, released recently and written by Ian Halperin, a source in the adult film industry had suggested to Kim that a sex tape would help catapult her to fame. Kim is alleged to have talked this over with her family before deliberately leaking the tape. According to a quote by Ian, “It was Kris who engineered the deal behind the scenes and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day.”

Posing as a porn peddler looking to sell a sex tape, Ian was able to speak to a Vivid (the company that distributed Kim’s tape) spokesperson during his research and was advised that before a sex tape could be released, both parties have to sign off. On posing a question on how Kim Kardashian’s video got out, he was told that a third party brought the tape, but the Kardashian family was contacted so as to legalize the distribution. The following is the exact statement as reported by Fox News.

” ‘A third party brought it to Vivid… [We] got in touch with the Kardashian family.’ She said they usually explain that it is likely a tape would leak anyway, and the celebrity wouldn’t get paid, ‘So why not work for us, and we’ll make sure that it will not only get out, but that it will be distributed the way you want.’ “

However, the fame after the tape was a bit difficult to handle as Kim was still inexperienced in handling all the publicity and attention. In a video she shared on Tuesday on both her website and app, she and Jonathan Cheban reflected on the old times and recalled the time she was living on Robertson Boulevard, which was sort of a paparazzi hot spot. The following is an excerpt of their conversation.

” ‘When I was living on Robertson [Boulevard], it was like paparazzi central,’ Kardashian West, now 35, recalled. ‘I was living right behind Kitson. And every time I’d go to the gym or go eat, every paparazzi would ask me questions and I would be like: “Hey guys!” Like, I so wanted the attention.’ “

According to Cheban, Kim Kardashian was fond of doing interviews with paparazzi while walking, and he was like “What are you doing?!”

Cheban is said to have been instrumental in giving her a makeover, instructing her to stop smiling and talking to them. He also advised that she should start wearing glasses. The following was her statement in regards to this.

“[He said:] ‘Do you think everyone else has smiles on their faces? You are too happy, you are smiling way too much. Put your sunglasses on.’ “
