Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are keeping fans of their affair in a state of suspense. Just like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, the couple has become the poster children of what can happen when you combine the spotlight on celebrities with the drama of youthful romance. First, Miley and Liam were engaged and then they split. Recently, a variety of reports assumed that Cyrus and Hemsworth were engaged again, with Miley even sporting the same engagement ring that she had worn after Liam proposed the first time.
However, Hemsworth has now responded to those reports by denying that he is engaged, noted Extra.
“I am not engaged, no,” said Liam firmly.
“I just don’t leave my home. For the last few months, because I had a back injury, I really couldn’t do much. So I have honestly been at my house most of the time,” explained Liam.
Hemsworth also admitted that he gets frustrated by the constant attention of paparazzi, who constantly try to get photos of Liam and Miley together.
“I am not someone who is looking for any more attention than I have and I try not to draw attention in any way. I don’t do things that do draw attention. So most of the time I fly under the radar.
As for Cyrus, she seems to be accepting her boyfriend’s desire to avoid the limelight. Miley and Hemsworth just attended a movie premiere together and sought to steer clear of the paparazzi while still enjoying the time together, according to the Daily Mail.
“They were whispering all through the movie. Liam was rubbing Miley’s leg and they were holding hands the whole time. It’s no question these two are still head over heels for each other,” shared the onlooker.
Part of the issue between Miley and Liam is how they define an engagement, according to Hollywood Life‘s source.
“Miley feels that they are engaged and will get married, Liam is happy as well in the relationship but he believes that he would have to ask for her hand in marriage again to make it official again.”
The source also revealed that by saying he is not engaged, Liam was not trying to discredit Miley or downplay their romance.
However, with Hemsworth denying that they are engaged, how does Cyrus feel in terms of their long-term future? Miley reportedly is worried that he’ll dump her, according to Snooki Nicole, which cites sources revealing just how the “Wrecking Ball” singer feels, including one of Miley’s pals.
Even though Liam and Miley are getting closer to an engagement, she is fearful that at the last minute, Hemsworth will split.
“[Miley is scared that Liam will] wait until the last minute to dump her at the altar,” said the singer’s friend. “Him dumping her would put her into a very dark place mentally, emotionally and physically. She will fall apart — and it will be ugly. She won’t be able to handle it.”
As for why Miley is so fearful, it’s not just the lack of an engagement confirmation. The friend also revealed that Cyrus worries Liam will exit the relationship because his family influences his decisions so much.
“She’s made it clear to him that if this relationship is going to work, they are both going to have to ignore what their friends and family say,” added Miley’s pal.
Fortunately for Miley and the long-term potential of her relationship with Liam, she is surrounded by couples who have shown that love can last. Miley reportedly admires the romance between Blake and Gwen, and she has used them as a resource for tips on her relationship with Liam.
“[The friendship with Blake and Gwen] has been a great thing for her relationship with Liam,” revealed the insider. “She has confided with Blake and Gwen on a few occasions or some advice in how to deal with her relationship ups and downs. She has respected their advice and their words and she has used it toward making what she has with Liam even better.”
In addition, Miley has learned from what Liam has said about his distaste for attention and the paparazzi. As a result, the “Wrecking Ball” singer now appreciates the way that Liam cares for her, revealed Hollywood Life‘s source.
“Liam is going out of his way to protect Miley and their love,” shared the source.
