Lea Michele Reveals New Tattoo In Memory Of Late Boyfriend Cory Monteith

Lea Michele is revealing a new tattoo in memory of her late boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith.

Michele took to Instagram to show off her new ink on April 12, where she revealed that she got the number “5” tattooed on what appears to be the side of her torso for the late actor.

Lea captioned the black and white photo “And one more.. for my Quarterback” alongside the hashtag “#5” and a heart emoji.

Although Lea didn’t mention Cory by name in the post, “Quarterback” is how the cast of the Fox show affectionately referred to the late actor, who tragically passed away from an accidental drug overdose in July 2013, and also served as the title of the 2013 episode of the show dedicated to the fallen actor’s memory. Five was also the number of the football jersey Monteith’s Glee character, Finn Hudson, wore on the Fox show.

Michele previously revealed the significance of the number, and Finn’s football jersey, on the last day of filming for Fox’s Glee on February 22, 2015.

Lea took to Twitter to post a photo of herself leaving the set of the Fox show after filming of the musical comedy wrapped last year, where she was carrying the frame that contained Finn’s jersey that the show hung on set to commemorate the much-loved actor and his character.

“One last thing,” Lea captioned the photo, alongside a heart emoji.

This is thought to be one of multiple tattoos that Lea Michele has gotten in memory of her late boyfriend.

Hollywood Life reported in 2013 that Lea had gotten Cory’s initials inside a black heart tattooed on her body “in a private place” following his tragic death.

“It’s something she did for herself and to always remember the love they shared,” a source revealed to the site.

Although Michele never confirmed or denied the heart tattoo, Lea did confirm that she inked the final words Cory ever said to her, “If you say so,” across her rib cage in a past interview with Elle magazine. Lea revealed at the time that the phrase was also the title of a heart-breaking song Michele wrote for Cory after his death that featured on her debut album, Louder.

Michele also confirmed that she and Cory once got matching tattoos in an interview with EXTRA in 2013.

“I remember we were at the Teen Choice Awards, a couple of years ago, and you said to me, ‘What is this rumor that you and Cory have gotten secret tattoos together?'” Lea Michele told correspondent Terri Seymour in 2013, “and I turned beet red and I was like, ‘What do you mean, what are you talking about… How did you know?!'”

Michele then confirmed during the red carpet interview the two did, in fact, have matching ink.

Lea also shared another tattoo she got to commemorate the memory of someone close to her on April 12, revealing an inking she got on her right-hand ring finger for her late grandmother on the photo sharing site.

“I lost my beautiful grandma this week.. She wasn’t your typical grandma. She gave me my first cup of coffee when I was 8 years old,” Michele wrote, giving her more than three million fans a glimpse of her new coffee cup tattoo.

“She said something inappropriate to every boyfriend I’ve ever had,” Michele told fans. “She never made pie or knit me a sweater. But she was my grandma and I loved her… More than anything. I love you Grandma.”
