‘Captain America: Civil War’ Actor Chris Evans Finds Out He’s Not Indestructible

Chris Evans may play a superhero in Captain America: Civil War, but that doesn’t mean he possesses the same superhuman abilities as his character, a fact that Evans was recently reminded, when one scene left him injured. Now, as the Captain America actor talks about it, he confesses that the mishap might be even more serious than he initially assessed.

One Captain America: Civil War Scene Leaves Actor Chris Evans Injured, But Is He Out?

There are secrets to being a superhero in a live action film and, in talking about his recent injury, Evans reveals some of them. Chris mentions that, as many who follow these types of films already know, the actors involved spend weeks and sometimes months preparing for their role, working with fitness trainers, nutritionists, and lifestyle gurus just to get that muscular, chiseled look. The results of that hard work is almost all for naught, says the Captain America actor, revealing that spending 12 hours a day in the superhero costume produces so much sweat that the body basically melts away that newly developed muscle.

“So, they load all the scenes where you have to be in a T-shirt in the beginning of the movie,” says the Captain America: Civil War actor.

It was one such scene, which is partially shown in the latest Captain America: Civil War trailer, that was responsible for Evan’s recent injury. In the scene, Evans as Steve Rogers, is dressed in the white T-shirt and trousers, as he tries to stop a helicopter.

“That was in the first week of filming. And I actually messed up my arm doing it, I really did,” Captain America‘s Evans says. “It’s a fake helicopter, obviously, but it was drifting beyond the ability of control. I tweaked a little something. To this day, I’m still messed up.”

Talk about Chris in a tight superhero’s outfit and dressed only in that white T-shirt may leave the female Captain America fans wondering just what Evans looks for in a woman. The actor recently revealed that little tidbit with a little more candor than he intended. Doing an interview with Anna Faris for her podcast, Evans ultimately revealed what turns him on.

“I’m way, way, way more of an a– man, clearly more of an a– man,” the Captain America actor revealed. “Just everyone knows. I like butts.”

How Much Of Captain America: Civil War Ended Up On The Cutting Room Floor?

Captain America: Civil War deals with a story that encompasses much of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, as such, there’s the risk of spending too much time with any one story arc or with any single character, which might end up causing the film to lose focus and cohesion. In attempting to keep the Captain America story tight and on point, directors Joe and Anthony Russo reveal that they did have to trim parts of the film for time and for content.

“There was a scene between Natasha and T’Challa at the German Ops Center, halfway through the movie when he was sitting in that room,” reveals Joe Russo. “Cap and Falcon had been isolated in the other conference room. We didn’t feel like it was moving the story telling forward and they had already had a scene so it felt repetitive so it was something we excised from the movie.”

There is another scene in the final script that never made it into film, says Anthony Russo. There is a sequence in a big battle in Captain America: Civil War in which Evangeline Lilly’s Wasp is to fight alongside Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, but it was decided that the film was better served by leaving that out altogether.

Captain America: Civil War, starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson, will hit theaters on May 5.
