‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Kristofer Hivju To Join Charlize Theron In ‘Fast 8’ Cast

The actor best known for playing the role of Wildling leader Tormund Giantsbane will now play the part of a henchman to Charlize Theron, the main villain in the upcoming movie Fast 8.

Kristofer Hivju, 37, is a Norwegian actor who has apparently caught the eye of the casting directors for the upcoming film in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast 8.

While the Wrap states that Theron’s casting is yet to be confirmed, the Inquisitr recently reported that the South African actress will, indeed, play the role of the film’s central female villain.

Reportedly, the film’s director, F. Gary Gray, was keen for the role to be played by a “fierce female,” and Gray says that Charlize Theron, who recently played the warrior queen Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road, fits the bill perfectly. As the article on the Inquisitr so aptly put it, we’ll have to get ready for The Fast and the Furiosa.

Add to this the role of a henchman, to be played by Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju, and it looks like being one exciting movie indeed.

According to IMDb, Hivju co-starred in the 2014 foreign film Force Majeure and reportedly played the role of a security chief in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2013 film After Earth together with Will Smith. He also played a role in the 2011 Universal remake of The Thing along with Joel Egerton and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Hivju was also reportedly nominated for a SAG Award in 2014.

Reportedly, Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris will all be reprising their roles in the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, and Jason Statham is expected to be reprising his role as Deckard Shaw, the main bad guy from Furious 7.

Back in September 2015, Vin Diesel, who is a producer on the film, teased that there would be three more films to end the popular franchise, saying, “Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family… I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga.”

In January, Diesel confirmed he had kept his promise, stating that plans for the three new films were definitely in the works.

Sadly, Fast 8 will mark the first movie in the franchise without lead actor Paul Walker, who died in a car accident midway through production of Furious 7 back in November 2013.

Of interest to note, the Wrap reports that Fast 8 will be the first major studio movie to shoot in Cuba.

According to the Newsweek, the last installment in the Fast & Furious franchise brought in a staggering $1.5 billion worldwide.

Meanwhile, although shooting of the anticipated film has begun, fans of the franchise will have to be patient for a while, as Fast 8 is only due for release on April 14, 2017.

In other news relating to Charlize Theron, the Inquisitr recently reported that the South African actress admitted to an Italian TV show that she was in love with Tom Hanks as a child and joked that she has a restraining order from Hanks’ wife.

Theron also contradicted the fact that she has landed some pretty meaty roles in both Mad Max: Fury Road and the upcoming Fast 8 by recently saying pretty actresses tend to not be chosen for movie roles with “real gravitas.”

Theron said, “Jobs with real gravitas go to people that are physically right for them and that’s the end of the story. How many roles are out there for the gorgeous, f***ing, gown-wearing eight-foot model? When meaty roles come through, I’ve been in the room and pretty people get turned away first.”

Luckily for fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, she and Kristofer Hivju have both landed a couple of pretty meaty villainous roles in the upcoming Fast 8.
