Kylie Jenner Inspired By Bullied Teens Who Have ‘Done Something Amazing’ [Video]

Kylie Jenner’s Paper Magazine cover has stirred controversy, with some fans telling Jenner she looks “like a bug” and describing the cover as “horrible.” Being in a constant fishbowl is not necessarily something that Kylie wanted for her life, but with a famous family and a sister like Kim Kardashian, she was thrown in the middle as a star of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

In fact, bullying is one hot topic Jenner addresses in the Paper Magazine interview, and the teenage cosmetics mogul opens up about the constant online attacks she faces on a daily basis. The bullying and gossip has gotten so bad that Kylie has said many times that she wants to leave social media completely – even implying at one point that she wants to get rid of her famous Instagram account and that it’s time for Kylie Jenner to retire.

In the Paper Magazine interview, Jenner reiterates her feelings about being a constant center of attention, confessing that she dreams “about when I can get to a place in my life where I can be off the radar.” Revealing that the constant gossip about her is untrue, Kylie also claims that she’s not “super fake” at all – and that she’s “inspired” by other teens who have overcome cyber bullying to become better people.

Reminding readers that she’s still in the process of growing up, Jenner describes herself as “a young teen socialite” and explains that her role “comes with a lot of negativity and a lot of mean comments.” Describing the comments as “online bullying,” Kylie confessed that she looks to other teens who have endured similar cyber attacks for inspiration.

“I turn to these people who have real issues and have overcome bullying and done something amazing with it and they really inspire me,” Kylie admits. All it takes is a bit of perspective, according to Kylie, who adds that “they’re going through something much bigger than I could ever imagine.”

Jenner frequently spotlights teens going through their own battles on her Instagram account, which has over 56 million followers, as a way to heal herself and share something positive with the world. Learning about the experiences of other teens in the same position is “just amazing” to Jenner, who is inspired by “how they stay positive.”

“I wanted to share that with my fans and followers,” the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star concludes.

Kylie Jenner has also been in headlines for her famous partnership with shoe giant Puma, particularly because her brother-in-law, rapper Kanye West, allegedly tried to squash the deal. The latest endorsement campaign has hit stores, and Matt Powell, a sports industry analyst with The NPD Group, spoke with Footwear News to explain why Puma might have been so interested to team with Kylie.

Revealing that the shoe industry “has vastly underserved the female customer,” manufacturers like Puma are taking advantage of a “big opportunity for retailers and brands to figure out how to grow their women’s business.” And signing celebrities to product endorsements is a smart move.

“Both Rihanna and Kylie have the ability to capture the headlines in traditional media as well as in social media because they have large followings as fashion/style and urban/street icons,” Denise Lee Yohn, a brand consultant, claims.

But it’s not just because Kylie herself is famous – Puma might have wanted to work with Kylie because of her “interesting and buzz-worthy” family. Adam Petrick, global director of brand and marketing at Puma, said in a statement that partnering with someone like Kylie, who prioritizes physical fitness “is about embodying a person who represents our consumer and the fit, active lifestyle we want to portray.”
