Can director-writer-actor Ben Affleck right all his wrongs for starring in Daredevil? It looks like he may have a second chance to catch some of that action gold, but this time he’ll be behind the screen with Justice League.
According to Variety, Warner Bros., a studio that often collaborates with Ben Affleck, claims that Affleck is their top choice to direct Justice League, which was acquired by the studio. In addition to The Town, Affleck has placed his upcoming Oscar campaigned film Argo in Warner Bros. hands which is set to hit theaters October 12. Another project that may come down the pike for Affleck and Warner Bros is an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, which is still in early stages of pre-production.
If all goes well with Warner Bros and Justice League, Affleck could very well direct and succeed with the DC Comics film in the same vein that The Avengers did for Disney and Marvel. The film would combine some of the most powerful superheroes of the DC Comics franchise including Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman into one film.
However, even though the first film on paper with Affleck attached looks very promising, DC Comics hasn’t set forth any plans for upcoming sequels like The Avengers did. It is said that the Justice League movie would cast a new Batman and would not resemble the world that Christopher Nolan created in The Dark Knight trilogy. However, it is unclear whether or not Joseph Gordon-Levitt will reprise his role as John Blake.
The script of Justice League, which was written by Will Beall, has exclusively been sent to only Ben Affleck. The fact that Affleck is at the top of Warner Bros. wish list to direct the film shouldn’t come as a huge surprise seeing as though Christopher Nolan already turned down the possibility that he would direct. Last month the director told EW.com saying, “I’ve got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project.”
Do you think Ben Affleck is a good fit to direct Justice League?
