Snoop Dogg: ‘Shout Out’ To Cousin Sasha Banks Is The Sweetest Thing You’ll See Today

Snoop Dogg and Sasha Banks, for those of you who only follow WWE by headlines or monthly pay-per-views, are first cousins, and Snoop has been credited with helping Sasha develop her in-ring persona.

Those contributions have paid off massively over the last two years as Sasha Banks has gone from being a NXT standout to a bonafide WWE superstar and the probable next Divas Champion.

Nevertheless, Saturday night (April 2) was not about Sasha. Instead, it was her older cousin getting inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, which is pretty much the Hall of Fame for all of professional wrestling.

Being the benevolent family member that Snoop Dogg is, though, he had to take a moment to send a “shout out” to Sasha Banks, and it is probably the sweetest thing you’ll see today.

“I want to give a shout out to my little cousin — Sasha Banks, the legit boss,” Snoop Dogg said to a round of cheers from those in attendance.

He continued.

“You know what’s so crazy about that scenario is that I remember in 2008 when I took her to WrestleMania in Orlando, she was just a young little teenager, and I took her around to meet everybody that she wanted to meet, and you could just see her face light up. You could tell this is where she belonged. This is what she wanted to be. To see the love that you guys have been given her, to see her face on the side of the AT&T Stadium, I mean, I don’t even know what to say to express how great it feels as a family member to see my little cousin fighting for it all tomorrow. Love you, Sasha.”

You can see the touching moment for yourself in the video below, and you should give it a click.

As touching as the words themselves are, there is something about the emotion Snoop Dogg shows toward his little cousin that makes it all the more special.

Sasha Banks will face off against Champion Charlotte and the original “Lass” Kicker Becky Lynch in a three-way for the title at WrestleMania 32 tonight. It is a match that many suspect will go to the Boss; with this honoring of Snoop Dogg as well as his words at the ceremony, that seems like even more of a sure thing at this point.

However, even if Sasha comes up short, she has a bright future. Widely known as one of the most talented women wrestlers in the company, she has proven to be resilient in both her NXT and WWE runs in spite of an MCL injury that sidelined her briefly in 2016.

She is also a fan favorite in spite of her affinity for working heel. Banks made big waves in her climactic NXT run when she made Bayley superfan Izzy cry with an unscripted taunt during a main event at a TakeOver special.

It did not take long for the pair to mend their differences, though.

As for Snoop Dogg, he transitioned from his touching remarks to “The Boss” and thanked WWE for inducting him into the Hall of Fame with a special rap, something he claimed to do “in his spare time.”

Again, give that video a watch if you can. It’s emotional stuff and presents a side to the Dogg that you may not have thought was in there.

So what do you think about WWE’s inducting Snoop Dogg into the Hall of Fame Celebrity Wing, readers — a worthy addition? And will Sasha Banks capture the title tonight? Sound off in the comments section!
