‘Trailer Park Boys’ Lucy DeCoutere Quits After Co-Star Mike ‘Bubbles’ Smith Was Arrested For Domestic Battery

The Inquisitr reported co-star and writer of the Netflix original comedy series Trailer Park Boys, Mike Smith, was arrested at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood for domestic violence. Mike Smith, known more affectionately as Bubbles, was charged with allegedly choking a woman half his age on April 1.

Within 24 hours of the time Mike “Bubbles” Smith of the Trailer Park Boys was arrested, his co-star Lucy DeCoutere announced she was retiring from the show on Twitter.

Lucy DeCoutere’s announcement of quitting the show and her comments about cutting violent people out of her life was made shortly after the Trailer Park Boys released a statement insisting the cast of the show stood behind Mike Smith. According to Daily Mail, the manager of the show, Louis Thomas, released a second statement clarifying the first statement was only referring to the three main characters of the show.

Daily Mail also reported that Lucy DeCoutere has previously claimed to be sexually abused by a Canadian radio show host. The radio show host who allegedly abused DeCoutere as well as two other actresses was not found guilty of the crime.

Twitter users had nothing kind to say in response to Lucy DeCoutere associating her resignation from the show to Smith’s arrest.

Some Twitter users even questioned whether or not DeCoutere made the connection between the arrest and her resignation from the Trailer Park Boys to further her own career.

Since he was arrested, Mike has released a statement denying that he assaulted alleged victim Georgia Ling. Georgia Ling also released a statement defending Smith.

“At no point did I feel I was in danger, otherwise I would’ve called the police myself, which I did not. The police were called by others not present in the room who mistakenly perceived the argument to be something other than what it was. When the officers arrived, I tried to assure them there was no real issue, but they proceeded to arrest Mike.”

In the statement, Ling reports that there were no witnesses. People who called the police were not actually in the room and mistook the argument for more than it actually was. Ling even tried to stop the police officers from arresting the member of the Trailer Park Boys cast, but they arrested him anyway.

It was at 1:30 a.m. when the Canadian actor from the Trailer Park Boys was detained by the Hollywood police. At the time, the actor was charged with a misdemeanor for domestic battery. He was released shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday morning when his $20,000 bail was posted.

Earlier that evening, before the Trailer Park Boys star was detained, he was enjoying the performance of Noel Fielding, an English funnyman.

Smith had previously spoken out on violence against women on Twitter. He even offered to support his co-star, Lucy DeCoutere, after she had accused Jian Ghomeshi, the radio show host, of choking and abusing her.

The tenth season of the Trailer Park Boys was released on March 28 just a few days before Mike was arrested and Lucy DeCoutere announced she was quitting the show.
