Guns N’ Roses Surprise Reunion Concert At The Troubadour, Axl Rose and Slash Together Again

Guns N’ Roses played a surprise concert in West Hollywood last night. According to CBS News, Axl Rose and Slash (Sal Hudson) performed together for the first time in over 20 years. It goes without saying, long-time fans were more than a little thrilled.

The reunion concert took place at the Troubadour Lounge. Approximately 250 people, including several celebrities, were in attendance. Earlier in the day, hundreds of fans lined up in hopes to get Guns N’ Roses tickets. Sadly, many were turned away.

Two excited fans, who were lucky enough to get tickets, had this to say about the surprise concert.

“This is the best day of my life. This is going to be the coolest show ever. It’s the best band ever!”

“That is more important to me than the birth of my child.”

Due to a feud between original Guns N’ Roses band members Rose and Hudson, the two had not performed together since July 1993. Unfortunately, the rapid success of the popular 1980s band caused hard feelings between the once-friendly bandmates. Slash eventually quit the band. Until somewhat recently, he and Rose hadn’t talked in years.

Whenever anyone asked either of them if they would ever work together again, they both essentially stated, “not in this lifetime.” Hence, the upcoming tour of the same name.

Last year, on CBS This Morning, Slash hinted that a reconciliation might be possible. At that time, he stated there were no longer issues between him and the Guns N’ Roses frontman.

E! Online tells readers that last night’s surprise reunion concert was essentially the “opening act” for the band’s upcoming “Not in This Lifetime” 20-city North American stadium tour, debuting June 23 in Detroit.

Guns N’ Roses celebrity fans included Chris Brown, Kate Hudson, Jim Carrey, David Arquette, Emily Ratajkowski, and Bradley Cooper, who brought his mom along.

As you can imagine, the crowd went wild when Axl Rose and Slash appeared on stage with the remaining Guns N’ Roses band members. Keyboardist Dizzy Reed, bassist Duff McKagen, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer, and (newcomer) keyboardist Melissa Reese were all rockin’ down the house.

Although it was never officially verified, rumor has it that Guns N’ Roses was “discovered” after performing at the Troubadour in the mid 1980s. In fact, the band played that particular venue quite frequently. If this information is correct, it seems more than fitting that yesterday’s surprise concert was held there.

Last night, the crowd sang along to numerous hits from Guns N’ Roses debut (1987) album Appetite for Destruction. They included “Welcome to the Jungle,” “It’s So Easy,” “Sweet Child of Mine,” “Rocket Queen,” and “Mr. Brownstone.”

In addition, the band played hit covers to include “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” by Bob Dylan and “Live and Let Die” by Paul McCartney and Wings.

Even though all recording devices were banned, many people managed to take photos and videos of the reunion concert, which were quickly posted online. Kate Hudson shared clips on Snapchat and Emily Ratajkowski posted a video on Instagram.

Are you a Guns N’ Roses fan? Are you planning on attending one of the upcoming concerts? If so, what are you most excited about and how long are you willing to stand in line to get tickets? Please leave your comments below.
