EJ Johnson Spinoff: ‘Rich Kid’ Gets His Own Show On E!

EJ Johnson is going from Rich Kids of Beverly Hills to his very own form of fabulous! The son of Magic Johnson has landed his own spinoff on the E! Network. According to Us Weekly, Johnson will be surrounded by his own squad (most of whom you probably haven’t met before) as he stars in EJ and the City.

The show is set to air in June after the finale of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. EJ will be surrounded by his pals (including Samaria, Sanaz, and his sister, Elisa) as he journeys through life, taking the next steps in his career (he is working on designing his own brand) all while trying to find love.

EJ Johnson has been a standout on Rich Kids of Beverly Hills and became quite an inspiration to thousands of people who watch the show. Not only is he openly gay, but he also struggled with weight issues. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, EJ underwent weight loss surgery in 2014 and dropped about 50 pounds shortly after. The reality star is said to be down an incredible 180 pounds now, and he looks amazing.

“[Weight] is something that I’ve been struggling with for pretty much all of my life. Nothing was working, and I wanted to make a more permanent decision to get back on track. [But] I wanted to wait until I was a little bit older to know how to handle myself afterwards,” EJ said at the time of his surgery. It was a big move for him, but he is glad that he went for it.

EJ Johnson’s new show is only six episodes long and should run through the month of July. Depending on its success, E! may decide to add on more episodes or another season, perhaps with 10 or more episodes (which is a bit more standard for a reality television show). It will really all depend on ratings.

As far as how EJ Johnson landed his own spinoff, E! executive Jeff Olde explained the decision quite simply.

“EJ continues to be a standout character on #RichKids, with his over-the-top personality and incomparable style, and now viewers will get a chance to follow him on a whole new journey as he embraces his newfound self-confidence and works to build a brand that lives up to his family name.”

EJ Johnson is obviously super excited to have this opportunity and fans of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills are also interested in getting a deeper look into EJ’s life.

No word yet on how the other Rich Kids feel about EJ’s new show. Stars Dorothy Wang and Morgan Stewart have not posted anything about EJ and the City on Twitter. There’s no question, however, that the girls are supportive of one of their BFFs. They have all been super busy working on RKOBH and getting their interviews done before the season is released. EJ has been in plenty of Morgan’s Snapchats lately, so clearly there aren’t any hard feelings!
