Melissa McCarthy: Star Of ‘The Boss’ Speaks Out On Why It’s So Hard To Discipline Her Daughters

Melissa McCarthy recently admitted, in an interview with People, that disciplining her daughters is a difficult task. In fact, it’s a “balancing act.” Surprisingly, the reason why is probably not what you think. It’s not because they don’t listen or are overly unruly. It’s because they’re “too funny.” Yep, you heard it right, too funny!

In a way, it’s to be expected. After all, the girl’s parents are Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone. When your mom and dad are known for their exceptional wit, it’s hard not to grow up with a sense of humor. It would be a downright shame if they didn’t.

Eight-year-old Vivian and 6-year-old Georgette have learned that being funny is a possible solution to getting disciplined. It’s worth a try, right?

Mom Melissa McCarthy has this to say to her daughters when they’re trying to get out of whatever trouble they happen to be in.

“‘Good bit, strong bit. However, you still have to go clean up your room.’ It’s a balancing act. Kids are really smart. They pick up on everything and then you still have to not laugh in front of them as you tell them that something’s not appropriate, or something might be too aggressive. Then, when they leave the room … “

Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone met when they were both members of The Groundlings, an improv comedy troupe. The year was 1998.

Both comedians admit to writing down some of the funny things their daughters come up with. You never know when it might be useful in some comedic fashion. The hardest part, Melissa says, is trying not to forget what’s been said, after the girls leave the room. She tries to hurry up and write it down.

Some of the reason Vivian and Georgette end up running the show, from time to time, could be the fact that Melissa McCarthy was never really part of a family until she had her own. She’s a bit more forgiving, it seems.

Family is very important to both parents. Just as an example, McCarthy and Falcone co-produced Melissa’s new movie, The Boss. According to the Hollywood Reporter, both of the couple’s children have roles in the production and they’re all having a blast traveling the country promoting the film.

The Boss premiered two nights ago at Westwood’s Regency Village Theater. Of course, it was a family affair. As far as “the boss” of the McCarthy/Falcone home goes, proud parents agreed on the girls. Dad jokingly put it this way.

“The little one, our 5-year-old, for sure — she runs our house like a beautiful corporation.”

In the film, a comedy of course, Melissa McCarthy portrays a finance mogul who gets sent to prison for insider trading. After her release, she ends up creating a Girl Scout empire in an effort to re-establish herself in society. Girl Scout cookies for everyone!

Die-hard Melissa McCarthy fans are no doubt thrilled with her newest comedic endeavor. As recently reported by Inquisitr, many of those same fans were disappointed to learn the actress will not be returning to Gilmore Girls. Word has it, McCarthy wasn’t invited back to the reboot because the network assumed she was too busy to make a commitment.
