‘Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Norman Reedus Says Daryl Dixon Is At Risk As Fans Prepare To Riot

Walking Dead star Norman Reedus has officially warned the fans that his character Daryl Dixon is in danger after being shot at the end of this week’s episode. Reedus revealed to Entertainment Weekly that fans should be worried about Daryl.

Norman Reedus has a point. Fans have good reasons to fret about their favorite characters. The Walking Dead Season 6 finale is next week. For The Walking Dead, though, season finales are defined as the annual bloodbath with a high body count. There is no guaranteed survival for any of the characters. The fate of some of them may not be known until next season.

The Walking Dead season finale is usually left as a cliffhanger. It is entirely possible that even Norman Reedus may not know if he has a job next season. It may depend on contract negotiations, some plot building issue, or a writer’s whim.

Norman Reedus has a really high-risk job, or at least his job is constantly at risk, as are the jobs of all his co-stars whose characters could get bitten, stabbed, shot, or even eaten on any given episode. Unlike many TV shows whose stars feel secure week to week, The Walking Dead comes with no guarantees. Their fate is all in the hands of a few writers, which is why Norman Reedus fans have a slogan.

“If Daryl dies, we riot!”

Norman Reedus had a reply for fans in the spirit of Daryl Dixon. His answer was very in character.

“Good. Burn it Down.”

The Walking Dead is known for killing off more characters than it has kept, which is why Norman Reedus is letting fans know it could be all over. It is time for fans to start tweeting. They can use Facebook and Google Plus, too. Fans need to send a message the writers. Let them know which characters on the show cannot be allowed to die. It could make a difference.

Norman Reedus stresses the urgency of Daryl Dixon’s situation to Entertainment Weekly.

“That’s Daryl’s blood that you see. That’s exactly what happens, exactly what you see.”

Walking Dead viewers already know that this season’s villain, Negan, is on his way. Now, they have observed Daryl getting shot by a new character, Dwight, in the final moment of Sunday’s show, and right before the season finale. What are they to think is going to happen?

Norman Reedus’ character, Daryl Dixon, normally has an excellent chance of survival. Dixon is the toughest and strongest character. As an expert survivalist and hunter before the zombie apocalypse, he is any character’s best chance of getting out alive. In any scenario, being with Daryl is pretty good insurance. However, with Dixon injured or dead, it puts every single character at risk.

Walking Dead regulars are not exempt from danger, and while Norman Reedus is a six-season veteran, he is not bullet proof. Fan response, though, has been overwhelming, so maybe writers will take that into consideration. If writers base their kill-offs on fans affections, Norman Reedus should have a job for many seasons to come. What would the show even be like without Daryl Dixon anyway? Fans do not want to find out!

Readers who don’t want spoilers should stop here. Yes, it is now known Daryl should survive his gunshot wound. The concession comes after a massive outpouring of concern, outrage, and frustration all over social media following Sunday’s show.

The Walking Dead comes with no guarantees, but readers can find out about Daryl’s gunshot wound. Actor Austin Amelio, who plays Dwight, could stand it no longer. He spilled to Tech Insider on his motivations for shooting, not killing, Dixon.

“He doesn’t have an intention on killing him. [Dwight]’s been through a rough patch and I think he wants to show that he means business, and he knows that by shooting him he gets his point across. I could have gone for the head I didn’t. I went for the right shoulder. He’s not going to die. He’ll be okay.”

Walking Dead fans should be relieved to know Daryl is just shot in the shoulder and will be fine. Rather, he won’t die of the gunshot. However, he is injured right before the inevitable battle royal that marks the end of every season. Who knows what new dangers await in Sunday’s finale?

Walking Dead character Daryl Dixon still has to survive the season finale next Sunday, so keep on sending those messages and letting the writers know you care.
