Kendall And Kylie Jenner Slam Proposed Instagram Feature

Instagram’s plans to change the way people’s posts are viewed is receiving some heavy criticism from users. Two of those users include Kendall and Kylie Jenner, who could pretty well be considered the reigning princesses of social media behind their older sister, the queen of Instagram and other social media platforms, Kim K.

As the Independent shares, the Jenner sisters do have reason to be a bit frustrated with the new plan by the popular social media platform.

“Instagram’s plan to change how content is ordered has prompted some degree of criticism from its users. Under the new algorithm, the social media giant will no longer list posts in chronological order and will instead prioritise the posts it thinks you want to see first.”

People who have voiced their opinion against the new plan have done so because they see the alteration as an attempt by Instagram to curate and interfere with their content. Kendall and Kylie are at the head of the pack, due to their popularity, and are now leading the wave of criticism against Instagram.

Kendall took to Twitter to share her opinion about the proposed Instagram change, noting her frustrations.

“Don’t fix something that isn’t broken. This whole Instagram update is just so down the line you’ll have to pay Instagram to be at the top of the feed.”

The youngest of the Jenner-Kardashian crew, Kylie, also made her point on the subject but chose Instagram as the social media platform to do so on.

“Instagram is changing out of chronological order so let’s say you love someone’s photos but don’t physically ‘like’ their pics they will bump them to the bottom. It’s called INSTAgram for a reason. I don’t really understand it and there has to be another motive because you follow people for a reason.”

Despite rumors that the changes would be effective as of today, Instagram execs have shared that this is not true and that changes are still being tested. A company spokesperson shared the following in regard to the apparent pending changes.

“There are still weeks, or even months, of testing to come before we roll this out more broadly. Currently the test groups are very small. We will let the community know before any changes are made.”

The hashtag #turnmeon is now trending by frustrated Instagrammers as a precaution to their followers to turn on notifications when new photos are added to their feed. Instagram, which is now owned by Facebook, announced the proposed change on March 15 and shared the reason for a need to shift from the chronological order of photos.

“You may be surprised to learn that people miss on average 70 percent of their feeds. As Instagram has grown, it’s become harder to keep up with all the photos and videos people share. This means you often don’t see the posts you might care about the most.”

Although the Jenner sisters were sure to voice their own opinion mainly for their own purposes and to maintain their growing following on the site, other celebrities have voiced concerns for the sake of the undiscovered artists and startups that benefit from the original layout and workings of the social media site.

John Mayer posted on the subject and was commended for his words.

The singer wrote, “I’m not writing this for my benefit, but for the benefit of so many artists, creators and upstarts, whose careers depend on this platform to flourish.”

A spokesperson for Instagram has responded to the pleas, as noted by Forbes.

“We’re listening and we assure you nothing is changing with your feed right now. We promise to let you know when changes roll out broadly.”
