Time is quickly crawling up on the season finale for The Walking Dead, and the rumors are flying about what could take place. Season 6 has been a whirlwind for fans of the show, and there is still so much that will happen in the final couple of episodes. Now, though, there is a rumor floating around about a major character’s death taking place in the Season 6 finale, and if it happens, then you might as well expect a riot.
Please let it be known that there are possible SPOILERS ahead for the current season and comic book of The Walking Dead. If you don’t want to know them, stop reading now.
The Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead is set to take place on April 3, and fans aren’t quite sure what is going to happen. One thing that is confirmed is that Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will be making his debut.
TV Line reported about the first glimpse of Negan appearing online thanks to a leaked international trailer for the season finale. The trailer has since been taken down off of the Internet, but screenshots of Negan and his trust bat “Lucille” remain.
That is known, expected, confirmed, and anticipated, but there’s a rumor going around about something else happening. Something that is totally unexpected and that no-one would see coming. It’s not confirmed, but one never knows what spoilers for The Walking Dead are true until they happen.
That rumor…is the death of Rick Grimes.
There is a connection to the debut of Negan and the rumor of Rick’s death. In the graphic novel for The Walking Dead, it is Glenn that Negan ends up killing and he does it by beating him to death with “Lucille” in front of Rick and Maggie.
Now, the tease of Glenn’s death already happened earlier this season, and it caused the fans to totally freak out. Some weren’t happy with how he died as it differed from the graphic novel. The other fans weren’t happy because they simply didn’t want Glenn to die.
Well, he didn’t…yet.
That being said, have the show’s creators chosen to go against that idea and change up the actions of Negan on the television version of The Walking Dead?
Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Season 6 of The Walking Dead and the final two episodes yet to come. She said that the season finale is expected to be one of the biggest in the history of all of television, and Negan will play a huge role in that.
The death of Glenn has already come about (almost) on The Walking Dead and it drew a lot of attention, but wasn’t earth-shattering. The only death in the series right now that would make it one of the biggest episodes in the history of television would be…Rick.
Cohan teased that it is a “cliff-hangerist episode,” and that may not mean a death just yet. Someone could end up meeting “Lucille” face-to-bat, and executive producer Gale Anne Hurd spoke with ET Online recently confirmed that it is coming.
“Someone is going to be facing Lucille. If you don’t know what Lucille is, it’s what he names his [barbed wire-covered] bat. So yes, at some point, someone is going to be facing Lucille.”
“Negan is probably the most dynamic, complex and charismatic villain, but at the same time, he is human. He feels sorry that you’ve encountered him and he genuinely does feel like, ‘It’s really your worst day that you ran into me.’ And he actually really believes it!”
There is no confirmation that Rick is going to die at the hands of Negan in the Season 6 finale, but there is no denial of it either. If it is going to happen, then it really will be one of the biggest season finales in the history of television.
The Walking Dead Season 6 is winding down and now, fans are going to want to get past the second-to-last episode in order to meet Negan and see what’s going to happen. If the spoilers and rumors are true and Rick Grimes dies…there may literally be revolts and riots so AMC had better know what they are doing.
