Angelina Jolie No Longer Lara Croft? ‘Tomb Raider’ Star Replaced By ‘Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley?

The coveted role of Lara Croft may not be every actresses’ dream, but it should be. She’s a highly skillful, sexy, and smart character that makes everything look good. Angelina Jolie helped shape the shoes of Lara Croft, but now a newcomer reportedly will be stepping into them and onto the big screen.

That newcomer is none other than Daisy Ridley. The Star Wars: Force Awakens actress who won an award for Best Female Newcomer recently spoke to the Hollywood Reporter, saying that there “have been conversations” about her taking the reigns from Jolie. However, she said she hasn’t officially been offered the starring role.

“I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’,” she stated, adding that a script for the film hasn’t been written yet.

For now, Ridley is currently filming the eighth installment of Star Wars, where she plays the mysterious Rey, but said that she would be glad to take time for more roles given the opportunities. “Absolutely, I’m trying to fill up my calendar,” she said.

Ridley isn’t the only one who wants to see herself as Lara Croft. Her Star Wars co-star, John Boyega, who joined Ridley as Best Male Newcomer, acknowledged that he would like for Ridley to play the role.

“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version,” he said, adding “But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

Fans are also on board with Ridley playing the adventurous archaeologist, states Irish Examiner.

A hand-drawn illustration of what Ridley would look like as Lara Croft popped up on Twitter, along with memes showing how happy fans are about the switch-up. Even if you’re not a huge fan, you have to admit that the resemblance between Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft and Daisy Ridley are scary close.

But for now, the 23-year-old British actress will just have to keep her calendar open and hope the writers and producers see the amazing potential that young Ridley has to offer the franchise.

As for the former Lara Croft star, Angelina Jolie was spotted with hubby Brad Pitt spending some family time together amid constant rumors of divorce. Joining the couple in London were their six kids, Maddox, 14; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 9; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 7.

The family fun time, as IBTimes has it, included a movie at the Electric Cinema.

Another rumor arose after Jolie fired the kids’ nanny after Brad apparently got too friendly with her. A source stated that Jolie got paranoid after Brad got out of the shower and went into the kitchen wrapped in a towel to get a drink. The nanny happened to be in the kitchen and was reportedly smiling from ear to ear.

But Jolie has also been on the flirting side of the rumors recently. A report came out earlier this month and said that Jolie was flirting with a Brad Pitt lookalike while on set for her movie.

While Gossip Cop has debunked the rumors of divorce, the couple has not responded to any of the flirting allegations.
