James Bond: Is Beyoncé Next In Line? Tom Hiddleston Clears Rumors

James Bond if one of the most memorable and famous characters in the history of literature. What has made the superspy even more famous is the onscreen depiction of the role. And since the first movie hit the big screen decades ago, James Bond’s character has certainly made a difference to the careers of the few men who have played him. Now that Daniel Craig may step down as James Bond, several names have come up for consideration, the Inquisitr has reported. But who is the next name going to be?

Newsweek did some legwork to come up with some names for its readers and listed five names. The James Bond fans will be surprised that one of the names was that of Beyoncé. The magazine said that her Super Bowl-stealing performance could make her fit for the role that involves shaking the hard-headed villains of the James Bond franchise. But the question remains: Will the audience and the fans accept a woman as a James Bond? That remains to be seen.

The first name that the magazine came up with was Idris Elba, who has long been touted to be the next James Bond. However, the Inquisitr reported that Elba has just signed up to play the Gunslinger for the big-screen version of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. Would Elba be up to play the British spy? Can’t say anything just yet.

Newsweek has gone on to suggest a few more actors based on the history of their roles and on-screen charisma. Tom Hardy is the next man on the list. The magazine said that he demonstrated beautifully that he could play a gritty character in Bronson. James Norton is the another one who can pull off the role, followed by John Boyega. While making a list is good, Tom Hiddleston, who is the target of the rumor lately has cleared up if he was next in line to play 007. Entertainment Weekly has reported that Hiddleston responds to the rumors with a bit of disbelief.

“I play a British spy in The Night Manager, so people I think have made the link,” Hiddleston said. “I mean, as somebody who grew up with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, when you mention it there’s a part of me that goes, ‘Really? Are you kidding?'”

Kimmel went on to wonder if the people would ever accept an American playing the character. Daniel Craig’s has made it clear that he would not play the next James Bond. Craig said that he would rather slit his wrists than be a Bond in another movie. Regardless, Craig has a very prestigious project lined up for him. The rumor has it that he is going to star in the adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s book Purity. It’s understandable that Craig would want to move on with his life as an actor after having played James Bond for so long.

Mark Strong, Craig’s friend and the godfather to his son, said something that was expected. He said that he would have loved to play the villain opposite his friend. But Daniel would not come back as the James Bond.

“Do you know what, I’d have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he’s a pal and that would have been great. But I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time and so it’s probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great.”

Who do you think the next James Bond is going to be?
