Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC to Shine Light on the Reapers This Summer

At Electronic Arts’ Summer Showcase event on Thursday, the company announced that Mass Effect 3 will soon be getting its first post-launch singleplayer DLC, titled “Leviathan.”

According to EA, Mass Effect 3‘s Leviathan DLC takes place before Earth’s final stand, and sees Shepard and his/her crew as they investigate the fabled “Leviathan.”

“Something lurks in the dark corners of space, something powerful enough to kill a Reaper. Shepard must discover the most closely guarded secret in the galaxy before the Reapers silence it forever. Discover more about the origins of the Reapers as you race across the galaxy to find the Leviathan. Unravel the dark history of the Reaper Race before it is too late.”

EA says that the Leviathan DLC will add in new weapons, such as the AT-12 Raider shotgun and M-55 Argus Assault Rifle, new areas on the Citadel, and more.

There’s no word on exactly when Mass Effect 3‘s Leviathan DLC is set to be released, but EA did say that it should be out by the end of summer, and that it will set you back a mere 800 Microsoft Points ($10) when it releases on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
