The Bangladesh cricket team has staggered through the ICC T20 World Cup Super 10 so far, and now must overcome a new blow to a key player when they face India in a match that will stream live as the Tigers must somehow find a way to defeat their subcontinent rivals — or exit from the tournament, possibly without a win.
The Bangladesh vs. India match will be the third time the sides have squared off in a T20 International since February 24, when they faced each other in opening match of the Asia Cup in Bangladesh — and then met again in the Asia Cup Final. India won both of those contests.
Bangladesh enter the Wednesday match in Bangalore after losing their first two games, first against another arch-rival, Pakistan, and then to Australia, leaving the Tigers as the only team in Group Two winless after two games.
On Tuesday, New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 22 runs to continue their dominance of Group Two and clinch a place in the T20 World cup semifinals — leaving the other four sides in the group to battle for that sole remaining spot. If Bangladesh can find a way to overcome what appears to be a resurgent host team in India, the Tigers will next face New Zealand, a daunting task in itself, but a game they would need to win to have even a hope of moving on to the knockout stage.
Bangladesh nearly pulled off a miracle against Australia, piling up 44 runs in the final three overs of their innings, batting first, to push their total to 156 — the Tigers' highest ever against Australia in a T20 match, as Mohammad Mahmudullah led the way with 49 runs unbeaten.

The Bangladesh bowling attack, crippled by the suspensions of Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny for allegedly illegal bowling actions, received a shot in the arm from the return to action of 20-year-old sensation Mustafizur Rahman, who showed no ill-effects of a side strain that kept him out since the final two matches of the Asia Cup last month.
Mustafizur took a pair of wickets and allowed an economy of 7.50 in his four overs, but it wasn't enough to stop Australia from posting a three-wicket win with just nine balls remaining.

The suspensions of Taskin and Sunny caused outrage throughout the Bangladesh team and coaching staff. The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday said that it had filed an official petition with the ICC to persuade the cricket governing body to "revisit" its suspension of the two bowlers.
In another blow to Bangladesh, opener Tamim Iqbal was felled by a gastrointenstinal illness and high fever and was unable to play against Australia. Whether Tamim will be available to participate in the match against India remains uncertain.
