Khloe Kardashian On Why She Stays Friends With Lamar Odom Despite Everything

Khloe Kardashian’s love life has gone through the wringer in the past few years, especially the time spent with estranged husband Lamar Odom. Now that she’s single, Khloe has made it known via her official website why she makes it a point to stay friends with her exes, ET Online reports.

“Just because you break up with someone doesn’t mean you lose that connection,” the 31-year-old reality star explained. “I always want to feel like I can say hi to anyone I’ve had a relationship with if I saw them in public. I never want to go anywhere and be nervous because so-and-so is there.”

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 31, has been taking good care of Lamar Odom since he was found unconscious due to a drug overdose at a Nevada brothel in October. Khloe stayed at Odom’s bedside during his time at the hospital all through the holidays. Lamar is now well on his way to full recovery, thanks in large part to Miss Kardashian.

“I always say, people are in your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. If my relationship with someone didn’t have substance anyway, we don’t need to keep in touch,” explained Khloe. “I don’t need to stay friends with a guy I f*cked for two weeks, LOL.”

“But if it’s a relationship that served a purpose in my life, like Lamar, why wouldn’t I want them in my life afterwards?” Kardashian added.

“I never want to go anywhere and be nervous because so-and-so is there. That’s so awkward! And if it is awkward between us, I want to find a way to fix it. I’m not about that bad energy!!!”

Khloe Kardashian’s lengthy post about maintaining friends with her exes came just a month after she broke up with Houston Rockets star James Harden, whom she’s been dating since June of last year. According to Kardashian, she broke up with Harden because she felt that he wasn’t committed enough.

Kardashian did say that people “shouldn’t force a friendship” with a person if they’re not ready to be friends with yet, which should explain why she never mentioned Harden’s name even once.

“You need a break, so you can process everything, and you need to respect yourself and your own emotions. If it’s toxic to remain friends, you shouldn’t, and if you haven’t had closure, you can’t be friends yet. But it doesn’t have to be that way forever,” she said.

Since the split with Harden, the Strong Looks Better Naked author has been hanging out with Lamar quite frequently. In fact, she was with the former Laker star when he made his first public appearance since his near-fatal drug overdose at Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 show in February. Lamar and Khloe even had a date on Valentine’s Day, reportedly as a means to show appreciation for each other, as reported in E! Online.

Since Lamar Odom’s appearance with Khloe at the Yeezy Season 3 show, people began speculating that the two are getting back together.

Kardashian took to Twitter to dispel the rumors, tweeting, “God forbid exes are cordial right?!?! Wtf is wrong with people?!?! People should praise kindness. Not question it!”

Khloe Kardashian said that she applies the same principle (staying friends with exes) to her sisters’ exes, most notably Kourtney’s ex Scott Disick.

“He was a huge part of our family and always will be,” said Khloe.
