‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Ned Ashton Returns — ‘Days Of Our Lives’ Star Comes Back To Port Charles To Stir Up Drama

Fans will get a rare treat on Monday, March 28, when Wally Kurth returns as Ned Ashton on General Hospital. The last time the Days Of Our Lives actor was seen in Port Charles was in October when he arrived to break up with Oliva Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) because he didn’t want to lie about her son, Leo’s paternity. Now that the secret is out about Julian Jerome (William deVry) being Leo’s dad, could Ned return to profess his love to Olivia?

CBS Soaps In Depth reported that Ned comes back to General Hospital to see his mother after learning about her declining health. The spoilers tease that his half-brother, Dillion Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins), calls him, concerned about Tracy’s (Jane Elliot) health. Ned comes rushing back to Port Charles to be by her side for the test results.

A General Hospital rep confirmed that the reason for Ned’s return was because he was worried about his mother’s health crisis. Apparently, Dillion told him that she called Dillion by his name, and he found that to be concerning. He rushed to be by her side and wanted to be there for her in case the test results bring bad news for her. The rep also stated that General Hospital plans to bring Wally Kurth’s character back into the storyline slowly. It is wonderful news for many fans because Ned’s presence has been missed greatly in the past year.

Soap Opera Digest sat down with Wally, and he revealed that he planned on staying with General Hospital for as long as they need him, as long as he can continue working on Days of Our Lives. Wally noted that in this line of work, he felt blessed that two very popular soap operas wanted his services. As far as General Hospital goes, Kurth explained that it “feels like home.”

“I have to say, it’s very nice. It really is. You know, there’s not many of us left. Us old vets that can bounce back. I think it says a lot about the fans who follow the show and who are loyal to the show. The Quartermaines are a core family and there’s not that many of us left. I’m very happy to step back in as one of the Quartermaine characters and try to breathe some life into the Quartermaine mansion. When I walk back onstage, as far as I’m concerned, I’m never going to leave. I told Frank [Valentini, executive producer], ‘Honestly, I won’t leave unless you ask me to leave because I’m here to stay as long as I possibly can.”

Wally explained that the offer to come back to General Hospital came at the perfect time for him. Days of Our Lives is current on a five-week hiatus, so he was available to devote all his time to GH.

“If the audience doesn’t object, and the network doesn’t object, I hope to do both characters as long as I can. I don’t think that the audience minds seeing Wally Kurth more than once a day. It’s not like I’m front burner on both shows. The shooting schedules are so wacky. I mean, I’m off for five weeks for Days of Our Lives and all the hiatuses that General Hospital has? Honestly, I have room for Bold and Beautiful if they’re interested!”

Wally Kurth noted that he planned to play double duty and play both Justin on Days of Our Lives and Ned on General Hospital. The veteran soap actor returns to GH on March 28. Expect an emotional reunion with his mother, Tracy, and possible love connection between Oliva and Ned. Watch General Hospital weekdays airing on ABC.
