‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Lachlan Buchanan Out As Kyle? Rumors Circulate After The Actor Deleted A Tweet Confirming His Exit

It’s been quite awhile since Lachlan Buchanan has been seen as Kyle Abbott on the set of The Young and the Restless. The handsome young actor had been seen very little since November when the soap opera rep announced that he was demoted from contract status to recurring. On Friday, March 18, Buchanan took to Twitter to reveal that he was at the CBS studio to film his last day on the show with Hunter King (Summer).

“Last day in#genoacity #YR,” Lachlan wrote on Twitter. Minutes after sending his tweet, he deleted the post, Soap Opera Digest reported. The Y&R fans speculated that the network was not ready to announce that he will be leaving the role of Kyle. The character of Kyle is much like the role of Billy Abbott (portrayed by Jason Thompson), meaning it is extremely hard to cast an actor that sticks around for long.

Lachlan debuted as Kyle in February, 2015, and many fans felt he looked like a good fit for the show. He had the right look to pass for a member of the Abbott family at first glance, and seemed to be well qualified for the role. For some reason, Buchanan never quite clicked in the role and the powers that be decided after a six-month run in the role to bump his contract status to recurring. Reportedly, production was trying to decide what to do: recast or just show Lachlan as Kyle occasionally. Ultimately, it appears they decided to let the actor go, and allow him to explore other opportunities.

Hunter King has made it no secret that she adores Lachlan and considers him not only a co-worker but a close friend of hers. It is apparent that she will miss him as he prepares to begin his career away from the show. His departure is not exactly a surprise, because most The Young and the Restless fans have forgotten about his character because he hasn’t been on the show for quite some time.

It looks like the Y&R writers plan on giving the fans a rare treat — that’s right, folks, they are going actually to wrap a storyline up for once. Typically, the writers would just announce his exit. This time, the audience knows that Buchanan has been let go from the daytime drama, and ideally the script will give viewers a proper goodbye to the Kyle’s character — at least that’s the hope from the Y&R fans.

CBS Soaps In Depth reported that it is possible that Lachlan Buchanan could have landed a prime-time role as he has been seen on NCIS and Teen Wolf the past couple months. CBS has not confirmed his exit yet; however, it is pretty clear that he will be exiting the soap opera. The Young and the Restless fans should expect to hear an official announcement from CBS by May sweeps, most likely.

Right now, the biggest mystery is how the writers plan to exit Kyle’s character from the show. With Summer cozying up to Luca Santori (Miles Gaston Villanueva) it is possible that Kyle will find his long-distance girlfriend in a compromising position with the Latin stud. If that happens, it would be an easy way to exit Kyle’s character without any ties to Genoa City other than the occasional mention that he called his father to check in.

The Young and the Restless fans are on the edge of their seat waiting to see how Lachlan Buchanan’s run concludes on the CBS daytime drama. Are you sad to see Buchanan leave the role of Kyle Abbott?
