Kristin Cavallari Reveals How Her Kids Helped Her Cope With Her Brother’s Death [Video]

Kristin Cavallari is opening up about how she’s been coping following the tragic death of her brother, Michael Cavallari, in December, 2015.

Kristin spoke out about her brother’s death during an appearance on ABC’S Good Morning America on March 15, where Cavallari revealed that she found a lot of strength in her three children, Camden, Jaxon, and Saylor, following Michael’s passing.

“It’s been tough, you know, it has,” Cavallari told co-host Robin Roberts on the popular ABC morning show, where she revealed that the November birth of her daughter Saylor just weeks before her brother Michael’s death helped her to cope with her loss.

“I had my daughter Saylor about the same time my brother passed away, so I just found a lot of strength in my children,” Kristin confessed on Good Morning America, where Cavallari also admitted that losing her sibling has given her a new lease on life.

“When you lose someone that you love, it obviously makes you realize how precious life is,” the former reality star revealed, “and so I’ve just been thankful for my family and everyone in my life.”

“She’s awesome. She’s my best baby. I’m really lucky, it’s fun,” Kristin, who famously appeared on the MTV series’ Laguna Beach and The Hills before becoming a mom, continued of her newborn during her most recent appearance on Good Morning America. “We have a girl now—the energy in our house has definitely shifted,” Cavallari noted of Saylor, joking, “I needed someone on my team, you know!”

Cavallari previously revealed that almost 4-month-old Saylor was her “light” following her brother’s shocking death in a sweet Instagram post on December 14, just four days after Michael’s body was found.

Posting a shot of Saylor’s tiny feet on the photo sharing site, Kristin wrote, “My little angel, Saylor. She has been my light throughout this whole thing and has given me so much strength. Thank you baby girl for coming when u did.”

Michael Cavallari was found dead on December 10 just days after Kristin Cavallari announced via social media that he had been reported missing in Utah. According to USA Today, The Grand County, Utah, Sheriff’s Office confirmed that those searching for Cavallari had found his body unresponsive in “steep and rocky” terrain.

Kristin took to social media to confirm her brother’s death shortly afterwards, posting a photo of herself and her brother as children on Instagram where she told her almost 2 million followers on the social media site that her “heart is in a million pieces” over the devastating news.

“Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed,” Kristin wrote in the photo’s caption. “I’m at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace,” Cavallari added, “I love u so much RIP.”

Kristin also issued a statement to People following Michael’s death, in which she thanked her millions of fans for their support during what she described as being a “difficult time” in her life.

“We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time,” Kristin said in a statement, where she revealed that she and her family “have just been informed by the authorities” that Michael’s body had been found.

“This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all,” Kristin Cavallari continued in the emotional statement issued to People on December 10, “We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving.”
