Kate Middleton And Prince William Play Matchmakers
Kate Middleton and Prince William have been accused of being negligent of royal duties, and were criticized for their secretive trip to the slopes in France, but were the young royals actually visiting the French resort on a different sort of mission?
The couples stayed at a ski chalet in the luxury resort of Courchevel, all arranged by Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton.
The Daily Mail shared the following about the getaway the two couples enjoyed.
“Mr van Straubenzee, 33, who has known William since prep-school, enjoyed lunch with Miss Carter and the Royals on the slopes at restaurant Le Pilatus, which has stunning views of Mont Blanc. Tucked away on a corner table on the sun terrace, they drank nine ‘vin chauds’ – hot wines – a large beer and ate a cheeseburger, linguine, goats cheese salads and an omelette during the £155 meal.”
A friend of Prince William’s best man shared as to the reasons that the getaway was necessary for the recent divorcee.
“It was a really difficult week for Thomas because details of his divorce emerged, and Kate and William decided he could use some cheering up. They didn’t want him sitting in his flat being miserable and thought it would be nice for them all to go away together. The three-year marriage of Old Harrovian van Straubenzee and Lady Melissa Percy, 28, ended in a ‘quickie divorce’ earlier this month.”
Although the former flames, Thomas and Sophie, were both in attendance at the getaway, an insider close to both insisted that the two would not take the steps to rekindle anything at this point seeing as Thomas’ divorce is too recent and Sophie is currently in a relationship.

Kate’s mother Carole hosted the chalet and was very empathetic to Thomas and looked after the children when the adults wanted to let down their hair.”
The divorce between Prince William’s pal and his former wife was reportedly granted to the 28-year-old based on her husbands “unreasonable behavior.” The hearing to determine the validity of the request for divorce lasted a mere 45 seconds.
As Movie News Guide notes, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took along their two children, Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 9 months, for the occasion. The couple is preparing to take off on their tour of India, during which their little ones will remain in the United Kingdom, so not to disrupt their schedules. The couple is set to embark on their journey in early April and will enjoy the nation of India for a week in hopes to strengthen ties.
Since returning from their secret trip to the French Alps, Kate and William have received criticism.
