Maria took to Facebook to not only tell her fans thanks for all of their support but to also let them know just how grateful she is for their loyalty.
“I woke up yesterday morning with an inbox, in full capacity of love and compassion.”
After starting the message with the above statement, Sharapova then shared that the first email she read was from her best friend. She did not go into detail about the email but instead spoke about the kind of person her BFF is. It was a moment that was not about Maria but her pal, a special thank you to her friend.
Sharapova continued by talking about how much she loves the morning time because it is a new day. However, thanks to her drug scandal, Maria Sharapova revealed that particular morning was not her average morning.
She went on to share her determination to play tennis again and to push through her current ordeal. One way Maria is doing that is by going to the gym and sweating it out. Of course, the paparazzi were all over her as she ventured out, and she spoke a little bit about that as well.
Once Maria was done talking about her morning, she shared that she had not been online very much since the news of her scandal broke. However, thanks to some friends who made a special collage of fan messages for her, Sharapova was able to see all the love and support she was receiving. After that, she really let her fans know just how much they mean to her.
“In this moment, I am so proud to call you my fans. Within hours of my announcement, you showed me support and loyalty, which I could only expect to hear when someone would be at the top of their profession. I wanted to let you know that your wonderful words put a smile on my face. I’d like to play again and hope to have the chance to do so. Your messages give me great encouragement. This message isn’t anything else but to say thank you. Thank you very much.”
Maria Sharapova’s drug scandal erupted earlier this week with the tennis star revealing that she failed a drug test back in January during the Australian Open. She shared that she began taking the drug meldonium for irregular EKGs and a magnesium deficiency. The drug is banned in the United States.
Not only has Maria been charged with an anti-doping violation, but she has also been suspended provisionally from tennis. An official ruling on her status in the tennis world will come on Saturday after the case is reviewed. The last time Sharapova played a professional match was at the Australian Open, where she has been sidelined due to a forearm injury.
Many of Sharapova’s sponsors have begun to distance themselves from her since the news of her failed drug test was announced. Watchmaker Tag Heuer has cut all ties with the tennis star. Nike has currently suspended its relationship with Maria, while Porsche is postponing all sponsorship plans for now and Danone is going to watch the investigation closely. The blonde beauty also has a sponsorship with Avon cosmetics, which have yet to comment regarding the situation with Sharapova. One sponsor that is standing by her side though is racket manufacturer Head which plans to extend their contract with her.
The drug scandal surrounding Maria Sharapova is far from over. Lucky for her, she has the support of her loyal fans to help her through this situation. Maria showed her love for those fans who are standing by her in a thank you letter posted on social media.
