Jon Voight Endorses Donald Trump

Actor Jon Voight has endorsed Republican front runner Donald Trump for president of the United States.

According to the Oscar-winning actor, America has suffered “a meltdown” under the premiership of Barack Obama – and Donald Trump is the only presidential candidate capable of getting America “back to prosperity.”

Voight’s endorsement was issued exclusively to conservative media outlet Breitbart on Tuesday night, which closed with a long-winded plea to both Republican and Democratic voters to unite behind Donald Trump and his controversial policies.

“I pray all Americans who have seen and felt the meltdown of America with the Obama years, to please fight for Donald Trump,” Voight said. “He will not let us down. I pray for all good people to see clearly what faces us now. The right vote will save our nation.”

Voight then went on to argue that voters should take comfort in the fact that they already have an intimate understanding of Trump’s leadership qualities and character, thanks to the real estate mogul’s illustrious career on reality television.

“It is true that we Americans have been part of Donald Trump’s life for many years,” Voight said. “We were part of his weddings. We were there to see all his children’s births. We were part of his great shows: Miss Universe, The Apprentice — and all know, without a doubt, his life has been an open book.”

Perhaps it’s Trump’s “open book” nature that has motivated media outlets on all sides of the political spectrum to attack the outlandishly controversial Republican front runner and his political beliefs.

Trump infamously kicked off his presidential bid last summer by musing aloud that all Mexicans are “rapists” and drug dealers, before claiming he would be able to convince Mexicans to pay for a a huge border wall.

He’s since proposed a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S., mocked disability, belittled American prisoners of war for “getting captured,” and has repeatedly issued sexist comments towards his political opponents and female political journalists.

Last summer, Trump came under fire for calling Fox anchor Megyn Kelly a “bimbo” and insinuating that Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton would be a poor leader because she “can’t satisfy her husband.”

Bearing that in mind, Trump’s outrageous behavior has certainly earned him plenty of negative press. In an interview earlier this week, Mexican President Enrique Peña even likened Trump to Adolf Hitler.

Yet according to Jon Voight, who’s got an Emmy and a Golden Globe on his mantel, the global media has painted an unfair portrayal of Trump in news reports.

“I am very disappointed at the talk show hosts, also spewing out lies and propaganda against Donald,” Voight told Breitbart News. “Why, I wonder? The only thing I can think of is he represents a form of freedom none of them ever saw before, and they are bewildered about it, and frightened about it.”

Voight also said that the “freedom” Trump represents has rocked the Republican establishment to its core, and the real estate mogul’s rise will represent a turning point in American politics.

“There are many Republicans fighting to keep him from winning the Republican nomination,” Voight said. “You know why? Because he has no bull to sell, and everyone will discover the bull most politicians spew out is for their own causes and benefits. They never dreamed they would be losing control.”

Voight is certainly correct in his assumption that Trump’s GOP rivals have lost control of the 2016 race.

Despite a recent surge in support for Texas Senator Ted Cruz, pollsters reckon it is simply too late to prevent Trump from earning enough delegates to be named this year’s Republican nominee. After coming away with three more primary wins on Tuesday night, Trump is flying high with a 14.2 point lead over Cruz.

“He’s an answer to our problems,” Voight said of Trump. “We need to get behind him. The Republicans need to unite behind this man. We need somebody to go in and reconstruct us in a sort of way, get us back to where we were, who we need to be.”
