Mischa Barton Reveals Why She Finally Said Yes To ‘DWTS’ After Turning Them Down More Than Once

Mischa Barton has turned down Dancing with the Stars more than once, but she is finally ready to join the show and will be on season 22. The big announcement was made this morning and fans are excited to see Mischa on the show. Mischa spoke to E! News and they got the chance to find out why Mischa has turned it down so many times but finally decided to do the show. Barton will be dancing with Artem Chigvintsev as her professional partner.

Fans know Mischa Barton from her time on the O.C., and everyone can’t wait to see her dancing on the show this year. She finally revealed what made her wait so long to give in and say yes to dancing.

“They’ve asked me for many years and it just wasn’t working with my schedule and it just wasn’t the right time. I just like staying busy and it’s fun training and why not? It’s a challenge and it’s a nice thing to do for a second and see how you do!”

Right now you can check out Mischa Barton on the new show Recovery Road, which is airing on Freeform. This channel used to be ABC Family and Recovery Road is one of their original dramas. Mischa also shared that she is most excited about the music and the costumes she will get to wear. She is really excited to have Artem as her partner. These two have already been rehearsing together for a bit and getting ready for the premiere. They will have almost a month to prepare for the very first dance of the season.

People shared that Mischa Barton also reached out to Rumer Willis for some advice on the show. Rumer was partnered up with Val Chmerkovskiy when she was on the show. Mischa shared that she knows this show will push her emotionally and physically, but it will be worth it because she will learn a lot about herself doing it. Mischa has done some acting in the past with Rumer’s dad Bruce, and the two already knew each other. Mischa shared that she actually played the dead girl under the bed on the movie The Sixth Sense. She shared about reaching out to her before joining the show.

“I reached out to Rumer before signing on for the show. She told me, ‘You are going to have the best time. It’s like family.’ And that’s exactly what it’s been like so far.”

Mischa also went on to reveal what she hopes to get out of the experience of being on the show.

“You always learn something about yourself when developing a new skill. I’m going to learn plenty because you physically and emotionally are pushing yourself to your limits and that’s both terrifying and amazing. When we first saw the pros dance I was like, ‘Oh my God! I’m never going to be that good. Let’s be real.’ But it will be an interesting transformation.”
