Candace Cameron Talks ‘Fuller House’ Reviews & Wrestling Role Amid Hope Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen Will Return

Fuller House has been full of surprises. The reboot of Full House initially seemed like a long shot for success when news surfaced that Netflix had agreed to give it a chance. But from the rumors of drama behind the scenes with the uncertainty as to whether Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen would reprise their role as Michelle Tanner (the Olsen twins bowed out for the first season) to the fast renewal of the show for a second season to the cheers of fans, it’s been a headline-worthy hit.

Well, sort of. Some critics dared to counter those fans with some exceptionally nasty reviews that John Stamos admitted had rained on his success parade, reported the Week.

Dishing with Seth Meyers recently, John contemplated the best of the worst.

“Fuller House is like a porn parody without the porn,” contended the A.V. Club.

The Washington Post compared Fuller House to “necrophilia.”

Stamos reacted to those negative reviews by showing his sense of humor, noted the Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s doubtful that there will be a more painful 2016 TV episode than the Fuller House pilot,” contended the Hollywood Reporter‘s critic Daniel Fienberg, for example.

“He was being mauled by a bear when he wrote that. You’ll love episode two, Daniel!” joked John.

Moreover, Stamos pointed to the success of Fuller House as indication that the reviews didn’t matter.

“After five days, Netflix said, ‘Let’s do a second season,’ so I thank the fans for that,” added the actor.

And John isn’t alone in choosing to ignore the critics’ cruelty about Fuller House, reported CBS News.

Candace Cameron Bure, who returns in the role of oldest daughter DJ with help from Jodie Sweetin, who plays her sister, and Andrea Barber, who takes on the BFF role, also dished on the pans.

“The critics never had a good thing to say about ‘Full House,’ and yet it ran for eight years in primetime and then it’s never been off the air in 30 years,” pointed out Candace. “If there are any negative reviews, that’s how we feel about it with ‘Fuller House’ — we did this for the fans and we think they’re going to absolutely love it.”

Hoping to boost that love, Bure did something totally out of character by stepping into the wrestling ring, reported WWE.

Initially, stunt doubles were used for the Fuller House episode, with the plan that the doubles would figure out out and Candace would star only in close-ups.

“They brought the stunt doubles and they said we’re just going to watch the stunt doubles. They’re going to work out the wrestling routine, and then they’ll do everything and we’ll just come in and do close-up face shots of me and edit it all together.”

But Bure challenged the idea that she couldn’t do the wrestling herself.

“I watched the stuntwoman do the routine and I just said, ‘She’s not doing it! I’m doing it. I can do that!’…This was my favorite episode simply because I loved getting in the ring,” added Candace.

Bure shared her favorite move on social media.

“Everyone freaked out after that. And it’s not really a hard move as long as you have good core strength. It’s the one move I did that I thought looked the most crazy, insane tough and people were like ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that’s you!’ ” she admitted.

Will all this excitement swirling about the show entice the Olsen twins to return? Ever since fans learned that Netflix gave Fuller House the nod for a second season, reports have run wild that Mary-Kate and Ashley could return, reported Seventeen.

“I am still hopeful that Mary-Kate or Ashley or both of them will come back and be a part of it, even if it’s just for an hour,” revealed series creator, Jeff Franklin. “Hopefully next time around, we’ll have them back.”

Bob Saget also is holding onto hope that they will return.

“I’m friends with both of them. I love them a lot and they just didn’t really want to act that much, that’s not what they do. It would be fun if the show is a success, comes back and then they could show up,” added Saget.

Adding to the speculation, Bob was recently seen with Ashley during the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot premiere at Tavern on the Green, according to Hollywood Life.

Now that they’re adults, it is possible that just one twin could return to reprise the role, pointed out the publication. Saget and Ashley have remained close, and she even showed up at Bob’s premiere for his Broadway show, Hand to God.

As the Inquisitr reported, Ashley reportedly is struggling with Lyme disease.
