Email Resolution Near? Hillary Clinton Says It’s So.

Could an email scandal resolution be near for Hillary Clinton? According to a prediction made by the Democratic presidential front-runner and former Secretary of State, the notorious email problem that’s plagued the entirety of her presidential campaign might finally be coming to a close.

“I think we’re getting closer and closer to wrapping this up.”

CNN reports that the email resolution comment was made during a Sunday Face the Nation interview.

While Hillary Clinton sounded optimistic that the controversy surrounding her use of a private server to send emails while Secretary of State is almost over, recent developments in the email investigation seem to contradict Hillary’s expectations. The investigation into the email issue is still going on, and just last week the news broke that a former staff member from the State Department was given immunity in exchange for his full cooperation with the Justice Department in the email matter.

According to Hillary Clinton, she’s “delighted” that the staff member who helped set up her controversial email server is fully cooperating with authorities.

Hillary also pushed back against the idea that the investigation into her use of a private email server may ultimately lead to indictments for herself or others, or that the process of coming to a resolution regarding the email situation could negatively impact her White House bid.

“There is no basis for that. It’s a security review. I’m delighted that he [her former staffer] has agreed to cooperate, as everyone else has. And I think that we’ll be moving toward a resolution of this.”

Despite repeated political attacks related to her use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State, none of the security logs Hillary Clinton handed over during the course of the lengthy investigation into her email habits showed any indications that she’d ever been hacked.

Hillary has also repeatedly stated that she never used her private email server to send a classified email, and that it is the government’s practice of retroactively classifying emails that was the real catalyst for the email scandal. According to Hillary Clinton, it is that retroactive classification process that should be being investigated. The former Secretary of State said that thousands of emails that she knows of have been retroactively classified after being sent back and forth and looked at.

“I think Colin Powell summed it up well. When he was told that some of his emails from more than 10 years ago were going to be retroactively classified, he called it an absurdity. So I’m hoping that, you know, we’ll get through this and then everybody can take a hard look at the inter-agency disputes and the arguments over retroactive classification.”

When continuing to describe why she believes that her email scandal troubles may be nearing a resolution, Hillary also mentioned that she was the one who requested the release of all of her emails, calling herself “more transparent than anybody I can think of in public life.”

The New York Post reports that Hillary has repeatedly apologized for her “odd” email arrangement. However, the Democratic presidential front-runner has steadfastly stuck to her story that she always treated every classified email with the appropriate level of security and discretion.

According to The New York Post, Hillary herself actually wrote 104 of the over 2,000 retroactively classified emails. This could indicate that she played an active role in using her personal email server to send classified information.

Whether an email resolution is actually near for Hillary or the idea is just wishful thinking on her part, her only opponent in the democratic primaries has once again refused to use the email situation against Clinton. On Sunday, during a State of the Union interview, Bernie Sanders was asked about her former staffer’s recent immunity deal. He refused to be drawn into a dialogue on the subject.

“We are going to focus on the issues facing the American middle class.”

Bernie Sanders’ classy response to the Clinton email query is a sharp contrast to the reactions of most republicans. Many, including GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump, have said publicly that the email investigation should disqualify Clinton from running for president and that she should be subject to indictment over the matter.

With the 2016 presidential primary season reaching its peak, one thing is certain: Hillary Clinton devoutly hopes that an email resolution is actually near.
