It’s been a difficult journey for Madonna over the past few months. The Queen of Pop has been faced with a nasty custody battle over her son Rocco with her ex-husband, director Guy Ritchie.
The former couple was to appear in court earlier this month to determine where 15-year-old Rocco would reside. Up until this point, Rocco had been staying with his father in London, willingly, and was not keen to return to the U.S. where he would live under his mother’s care and her allegedly strict rules. Rocco had reportedly gone so far as to break communication with his mother, leaving Madonna distraught.
The ruling by the judge on the court date, which neither Madonna nor Ritchie ended up attending and also frustrated the judge, meant that Rocco would continue to live under his father’s care in London. The ruling was devastating to Madge. The sadness could be felt and seen by audience members at her recent show in New Zealand on Saturday.
The judge of the case chastised Madonna and Ritchie for not coming to an amicable agreement over the custody of their son on their own terms. Both parties instead were in touch via telephone. An additional hearing on the matter will take place in June of this year.
The “Material Girl” dedicated her song “La Vie En Rose” to her son. Gossip Cop relays what transpired at the concert.
“Madonna was on stage at the Vector Arena in Auckland when she was apparently overcome with emotion stemming from her custody battle with ex-husband Guy Ritchie.”
The entertainer then noted her emotional state due to talking and thinking about her son. The publication shared her words.
“He’s actually 15, and it’s true — there’s no love stronger than a mother for her son. And if I talk about it too much, I might cry. But I would like to dedicate this song to him. It’s about a man, but I know he’ll be one one day. I hope he hears this somewhere, and knows how much I miss him.”
Madonna has made it known, prior to this point, how saddened she is by being apart from Rocco and has been even more concerned about him being in his father’s care when a video was shared of the teen smoking an unknown substance. The incident only worried his mother. Raveby recalls the event from last month that shocked Rocco’s superstar mother.
“‘The Sun’- recently released a video featuring the U.S pop star and U.K filmmaker’s son smoking an exotic element in a Skate park, London with some older folks.Guy at present has impermanent custody of Rocco, who is living in London with his dad after apparently repelling to keep on going on visit with his reality renowned mother.”
At that time, a source close to the singer noted Madonna’s concern sharing that the “pop queen is much worried about her former’s parenting artistry of these new revealed pictures.”
Raveby relays the words of the source on the subject of the video and pictures that surfaced.
“Madonna has been concerned much that her son-Rocco’s father is doing actually nothing to provide him guidance or discipline.”
Madonna even went so far as to fly to London during the middle of her Rebel Heart world tour in order to coax her son back to her home in the United States. Rocco was, however, not budging on his choice of residence, leaving Madonna to return empty-handed.
The battle over Rocco’s custody has been ongoing since last fall when he chose to reside with his father. Rocco was instructed by the judge to reach out to his mother and to express what he wants to help her understand. The battle continues on despite the attempt.
