Elementary Test: The 21 Answers You Need To Solve The Popular Yet Difficult Online Quiz

Have you taken the online elementary test yet?

A now-viral elementary test, which was published on Playbuzz by Sebastian Knight on Wednesday, has made waves online, stumping a vast number of people of varying ages.

The online test covers quite a few grade school subjects, including English, History, Science, and Math. According to its main headline, 97 percent of adults reportedly did not pass this particular test. Here are each of the answers — and brief explanations for each of them — that can potentially help you pass or at least explain why you failed.

Venus is the planet that rotates in a different direction

According to Scientific American, Venus spins in a different direction from the majority of other planets, including Earth. For that reason, the sun rises on the west for that particular planet instead of the east. For years, many people believed that this difference was caused by Venus flipping.

However, Scientific American highlighted the theory of Jacques Laskar and Alexandre Correira which assumes that Venus’ rotation gradually slowed to a standstill and reversed direction.

Harrisburg is the capital of Pennsylvania

Here are the actual capitals of the other states listed as choices for this particular question on the elementary test: Trenton (New Jersey), Helena (Montana), and Montgomery (Alabama).

Inertia does not have any units

As most advanced math and science teachers as well as students will tell you, inertia is the only physical quantity listed for this question without any specific measurement units. Resistance, distance, and specific gravity can all be measured in units.

‘Your’ is not a noun

Remember what you learned back in grade-school English class. Perhaps one of your first elementary tests as an English student reminded you that a noun is defined as a person, place, or thing. According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, “your” is actually a possessive pronoun — not a noun.

LXXVI is 76

In Roman numerals, LXXVI represents the number “76.” A chart published by Education Oasis, which lists each of the Roman numerals from 1-100, shows that LXX means 70. Since VI is 6 in Roman numerals, LXXVI translates into 6 more than 7 — or “76.”

A soda can is shaped like a cylinder

One question on the now-viral elementary test simply asks you to pick the pictured item that represents a cylinder. The three choices were a baseball, three square blocks of ice, and a soda can. A Geometry 101 lesson would remind you that a baseball is a sphere, a block of ice is a cube (i.e. “ice cube”), and a soda can is a cylinder.

2 is the smallest prime number, Not 1

Many people mistakenly believe that 1 is the smallest prime number since it is the smallest number that has no other positive integers that can be divided into it other than 1. According to Wolfram Math World, the tricky part that you have to remember is that a prime number has to be greater than 1, which means that “1” is not the answer to this particular question.

“Loose” is an antonym of “Tight”

Keep in mind that antonyms are words that have an opposite meaning to another word. For example, “bad” is an antonym for good. “Narrow” is an antonym for “wide” and “thin” is an antonym for “thick.” Therefore, “loose” is the ideal antonym for the word “tight.”

The triangle-circle ratio is 4:3

The tricky part of this problem on the viral elementary test was the order in which you state the ratio. It is true that there were only four triangles and three circles in the picture. Therefore, it could have been a 3:4 ratio if the question asked for the ratio of circles to triangles instead of the other way around.

Adult human bodies dave 206 bones

Over half of the adult human’s bones are actually found in their hands (54 bones) and feet (52 bones), according to Ducksters. This question may have confused the people taking the online elementary test that focused on a human’s bones in general. At birth, a human baby has nearly 300 bones (approximately 270). However, a substantial number of those bones fuse together over time, which is why an adult human body only has 206.

An epidermis is the outer layer of skin

The epidermis is the outermost layer of skin on your body. The dermis is actually beneath the epidermis. The exodermis and endodermis are aspects of a plant’s layer structure, not the layer structure of a human’s skin.

“Ag” represents Silver on the periodic table

It may be a little confusing at first glance on the elementary test, especially since the word “silver” does not have an “A” or a “G.” However, that is exactly how silver is labeled within the periodic table of elements — not Argon (Ar), Gold (Au), or Gallium (Ga).
