Tarot Card Readings Are The Latest Hot Trend
According to the Huffington Post, tarot card readings are making a serious comeback and are one of the hottest trends right now. They talked with prominent New York tarot reader and psychic Janet Horton about the phenomena to find out why people are seeking advice from psychics and tarot readers.
If you picture the typical psychic or tarot reader as a gypsy with a big crystal ball, think again. Horton is a former magazine editor for American Home and Us magazines, making a name for herself as a writer on those magazines as well as Cosmo and New Woman. She’s also worked as a stockbroker but now makes her living giving psychic guidance to clients using tarot cards. She’s a firm believer in the value of the services with the right reader, but there is even some benefit to working with at tarot card reader who may not be at the top of his or her field.
“Any interaction with a second person tells you a lot about yourself, so it’s all good. When you have a reading with a psychic tarot card reader, hopefully that person will have genuine insights into your life that are helpful. Just hearing about yourself in someone else’s words can be very enlightening. Even if you aren’t all that impressed with the reader, it can be fascinating to hear how she or he characterizes your questions and answers them. And every reader is different. Everyone has different gifts.”
Horton herself says her gift and specialty is helping her clients connect with loved ones who have passed away, and she says the cards are the means for higher powers to communicate their message and help make that connection. However, you also should listen to your intuition.
“I believe God and the spirits are talking to us through the cards, and loving us, and supporting us. Every reading should be positive and inspiring, even healing. And if it’s not — for Heaven’s sake, don’t give anyone the power to make you unhappy, or throw you off your course. Trust your own inner truth.”
A typical tarot reading with Horton is done in her home during appointments that last approximately 45 minutes, or sometimes she will do phone readings for people who aren’t local. She also attends a lot of different events where she helps people and gives them guidance, including parties in restaurants and private residences. A couple of days a week, Horton reads on a regular basis at local restaurants or bars, offering shorter 15-minute tarot card readings.
Not only does Horton read tarot cards, but she is currently working on her first novel involving a psychic murder mystery, Beyond the Veil. The story is set in Manhattan in 1939 and involves a psychic who does readings in an elegant restaurant. Sound familiar? Except in the novel, the psychic heroine does a reading one night for a couple, where she predicts the man will murder the woman, putting her own life in jeopardy.
“Her prescience puts her own life in danger – but I don’t want to give too much away. Let’s just say the book is spooky, spiritually enlightening, and a lot of fun!”
The real world of being a tarot reader and psychic is considerably less dangerous, fortunately. In fact, Horton says that she has developed a very positive outlook on life through the practice, which she feels comes from God and makes a connection to that greater spiritual power. But she also believes in working for that connection and power.
“I’m one of those people who sees God, and beauty, in the face of every person who passes by on the sidewalk… for me, the most spiritual place to go on Earth is within. My advice: Take a moment to be peaceful, by yourself, and think how blessed you are, and what a pleasure it is to be of service. That usually does it for me — I can half ‘see’ the Angels manifesting around me. By the time I look outward and life begins again, I’m in a state of joy, renewed and fulfilled. We are all part of God. God is always within.”
