Joey Feek Cancer Update: She Is Now In Heaven, Says Rory Feek

Joey Feek put up a brave fight with cancer for over two years, and now her husband Rory Feek has delivered the heartbreaking news that his wife is now in Heaven.

“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven,” Rory wrote in an emotional post on his blog This Life I Live.“The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.”

Earlier this week, Rory shared that his wife said she was ready to stop fighting and go home, and gathered her family to say her final goodbyes. Today, at 2:30 p.m. Joey took her final breath.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer in May, 2014, three months after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana. She later underwent a radical hysterectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation that were supposed to rid her body of the cancerous cells. However, in October of 2015, her cancer returned and started spreading, forcing Joey to stop treatment and enter hospice care.

Since October, Joey had been on a roller coaster; one day feeling better than ever, and the next taking a turn for the worse. Her fans have been clinging to hope that a miracle would come her way, but unfortunately, Joey’s cancer was too aggressive and she finally succumbed on Friday, March 4.

“Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy,” Rory wrote in the post titled “a dream come true.” “There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog. But I try.”

As hard as it was for Rory to see his wife near the end of her life, he knew the pain she was in and the suffering she was enduring. He wanted her to stay with him forever, but he also didn’t want her to hurt anymore.

“When a person has been through as much pain and struggle as Joey’s been through, you just want it to be over. You want them to not have to hurt anymore, more that you want them to stay with you. And so, it makes the hard job of saying goodbye just a little easier.”

Since Joey entered hospice care in October, Joey and Rory had been living in Joey’s hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, so she could be close to her family. Now that Joey is gone, Rory said he and their 2-year-old daughter, Indiana, will be returning to their home in Tennessee. Rory said he can’t imagine being at their home without Joey, but that’s where she wanted him to be, and that’s where he will go. He knows Joey will be with him wherever he goes.

“After four-and-a-half months in Indiana, we will soon be back home in Tennessee. Me, and our little one, with our older daughters. It’s hard for me to imagine being there without Joey, but at the same time… it is where she wants us to be. It’s where she will be… She’s gonna be in the mint growing beside our back deck, the sweet-corn frozen in our freezer and a million other places that her hand and heart has touched around our little farmhouse and community. Joey will still be with us. Everywhere.

So if it’s okay, I’m gonna close, wipe my tears and pack our bags to hit the road headed south.

She’s already got a head-start on me.”
