UFC President Dana White Says He Hates The Business Side Of The Holly Holm Vs. Miesha Tate Fight

UFC president Dana White is talking about the upcoming fight between the current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm, and her contender, Miesha Tate.

When Holm knocked out the former champion, Ronda Rousey, in November at UFC 193, White joked that UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta should have their promoters’ licenses taken away if they scheduled any fights for Holm other than an immediate rematch.

A rematch was tentatively scheduled to take place at UFC 200 in July, however Rousey’s filming schedule conflicted, which forced her to pull out. Because Holm wanted to stay active, she insisted on fighting the next contender, which happened to be Miesha Tate.

Dana White has long been known for being brutally honest, and during a recent interview with The Jim Rome Show, he admitted that he hates the business side of Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate.

“I’ll tell you this, to be brutally honest with you, as a fan, I love her attitude and I love that. As the business side, I absolutely hate it,” Dana White said on Thursday. “Holly vs. Ronda is the biggest fight in UFC history, without a doubt. I think this thing does close to two million buys, and she’s going in Saturday night against Miesha Tate, who A) is hungry and wants that belt so bad, and B) stylistically matches up very well to give her a tough night. So it’s going to be interesting.”

Holly Holm and Miesha Tate will be meeting during the co-main event of UFC 196 on March 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Holly Holm pushed hard for the fight, and as the Inquisitr previously reported, said beating Miesha Tate will be more important to her than beating Rousey.

“It’s just as important of a fight. I mean I don’t want to be a one-hit wonder. Even more of an important fight,” Holm told Fox Sports on Wednesday. “A lot of people are wondering ‘what’s really going to happen now after that kind of a victory?’ Is she the real deal? Is she really going to do it? There’s a lot more pressure on this that I put on myself but that’s what I’m here for.”

Rousey seemed invincible, and when Holm knocked her out, the world went crazy. Holm now wants to prove to everyone that she isn’t just a “one hit wonder.” That’s why the fight against Miesha is so important; Holly doesn’t want to be remembered simply as the girl that defeated Ronda Rousey.

Dana White has always been a fan of Ronda Rousey, and has been open about their close personal relationship. Last month, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on the Ellen DeGeneresShow, she opened up about her loss to Holly Holm, and admitted that she contemplated suicide after the fight. During the same interview with The Jim Rome Show, White spoke about her remarks.

“That women is so competitive, and truly believed that she would never lose, and that’s what we all loved about Ronda Rousey. That’s what got everybody so into women’s MMA and behind her, and then, when she lost, I mean, she went into a depression like I’ve never seen before,” White said. “This is a person that I’m very close to and know very well, and yeah, it was tough to see her go through that, but she’s 100 percent bounced back, recovered and is getting ready to come back in either October or November.”
